Sculpt OS stuck on boot logo - 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700HX - HP ZBook Fury 16 G10

Hello, I'm using a HP ZBook Fury 16 G10 Mobile Workstation PC with 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700HX, however Sculpt OS won't boot on it. It gets stuck at the boot logo screen. I can boot it using the same USB on my Sony Vaio Intel Laptop - Intel Core i7 Q 740. Therefore the USB image is valid. I'm not sure what else to try as I have followed the guide for running Sculpt OS on hardware and I changed all the Bios settings I could. The only one I can't find access to is the Data Execution Protection option in the bios, it doesn't seem to exist as an option to enable or disable in my bios. But the rest of the options I was able to enable such as virtualisation VTX, VTD, Disabling secure boot etc. I can UEFI boot Windows and several Linux distributions on the computer with and without TPM or Secure boot enabled. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Seoul vs. VirtualBox

Hello Genodians, During the Roadmap discussion, Alexander expressed some relief about switching from VirtualBox to Seoul for his main VM. I can't find much information about Seoul online, though. Is there any handy info about: 1. Advantages / disadvantages of Seoul vs. VirtualBox 2. What's involved in migrating from VirtualBox to Seoul? 3. I have been looking for ways to build the OVA, but couldn't find any build script or documentation online (google failed me on this one too…). Build sculpt with offline falkon web browser

Hello I am a new to the sculpt os project. I aim to introduce some changes in the operating system build process to enable falkon web browser to run without requiring network connectivity. Is there a specific solution for this scenario, or should I integrate all the steps of downloading and storing files into the operating system build process incrementally? Best regards Hamed

driver_manager being phased away ? (#5150)

Fellow Genodians, regarding ticket 5150 : Consolidation of the driver manager into the sculpt manager ( https://github.com/genodelabs/genode/issues/5150 ) I'm in the process of integrating driver_manager into my h/o/g project, to give it basic dynamic drivers ability (it previously hardcoded Vesa video etc). After peeking at ticket 5150, I looked into sculpt_manager, wondering if I could make a bigger "jump" and migrate directly to that component, but that does not seem compatible with my goals (sculpt_manager embodies much of the SculptOS "feel" and would conflict with my h/o/g goals). So it seems like I'll need to preserve a copy of driver_manager before it is deprecated/retired, make it an (ex)Genode component in the h/o/g repository. Still, thought I'd better post my reasoning here in case someone finds fault with it : from where I stand, that seems to be the natural way to go, and it seems to have few dependancies so I assume the (verbatim "forked") driver_manager will keep working in future Genode releases. I'll just need to mirror changes that occur in Genode when a driver (intel_fb etc) is modified in terms of how it's ran, what arguments are passed to it. Cedric

Another complex Rust package

Hello Genodians Benjamin Lamowskis great article "A first complex Rust package" [1] and the attention Rust on Genode received recently on this mailing list motivated me to explore the latest achievements regarding Goa and Rust myself :) I went straight down experimenting with Rocket, a web framework for Rust and setup a corresponding Goa project [2]. Compiling the "Hello World" example [3] with Goa was a very pleasing experience and at link stage, only two symbols were missing: kqueue and kevent. I added dummy implementations for both calls [4] (and by the way learned about the compat-libc API). However, I'd like to pursue the topic regarding kqueue()/kevent() a bit more since I assume this might be (or has been) a roadblock for porting other applications or runtimes. - Is it reasonable to add those calls to Genodes libc? - Or can Rust be instructed not to use those calls but select() instead? I stumbled over the MIO flags `mio_unsupported_force_poll_poll` and `mio_unsupported_force_waker_pipe` [5].
