Goa armv8

Hi I have in the past compiled stuff with Goa targeting armv8. But now I can't find info about how to do that. The toolchain goa wants to use is x86. I guess there is variable I need to have , but I don't know what. Any hints? Michael

Options for interfacing C application

Hi I woud like to know what options I have for interfacing a C app with Genode. I guess I can make it a libc styled app. The only thing I need is to have a piece of RAM (framebuffer) shared. If possible .. can I put in .a archives into build system and link with a libc app/server? It would be very helpfull. Ideally I would like to have a seperate server for framebuffer. Genode, RISC OS and the lot .. demo in Bristol

Hi everyone, I am planing to show my efforts with Genode and RISC OS on the RISC OS South West show in Bristol 24/2. I plan to stay there from thursday evening to monday morning and if someone would like to join me it would be terrific! Plenty of time during friday to talk about new ports usb , and what not! But there is a big IF around this. I have a psychosis diagnose that prevents me from normal work for money. This means that I can't travel to Bristol without substantial help. For the first time I am running a (humiliating) GoFundMe campaign. It is aimed to RISC OS users. It is kind of embarrassing to post this on this list , but I don't have much of a choice :-( (the link would be here,, send me a email for the link) Any surplus will finance new dev boards. seoul vmm in qemu

Hello Genodians, I am trying to run seoul demos from genode-world in qemu. It works on my PC but doesn't work on my laptop. The VM is getting stuck on booting. key..... lacks Qt mapping

Fellow Genodians, I'm reaching "alpha" stage (or a good approximation thereof) of my "distro" project at last, added a depot manager that mimics the one in ScultOS, so that the distro can download and use the wealth of packages provided on genode.depot.org. Greatly enjoying my newfound ability to use that software :-) but the one issue that remains is one I can't figure out so far : keyboard input (mostly) does not work, in Falkon and qt5_textedit (I'm assuming, all Qt apps). I'm hitting this warning: https://github.com/cproc/qt5/blob/018e7c70f8d5bb5e000acf203d843317a6394a7d/… Thought of filing a ticket in cproc/qt5/ or in genode-world/, but the most likely explanation is that I'm doing something wrong during system integration. That's in 23.05 ; in 23.08 I can't get networking to function (with ipxe_nic_drv or with the newer pc_nic_drv from the depot) which precludes downloading newer packages instead of re-using the 23.05 revisions. I'll try 23.11 in the next couple weeks. Symptoms and code paths: - 'modifier' keys listed in the QGenodePlatformWindow::_map_key switch() do work (I can move the cursor with the arrow keys, delete) - however, all letters, digits, punctuation, spacebar, fail to work, and output a warning to LOG - each time, the warning says e.g. "key KEY_A,18 U+fffe lacks a Qt mapping" - it's interesting that the unicode is always "fffe" - so the Input::Keycode is correct (it says KEY_A, KEY_B, etc)... - but the Codepoint.value is always incorrect (it's always fffe) ? I'm not setup for working with Qt, so can't add instrumenting in the lib itself or the apps. I was able to find the warning() despite github erroring out on "we're reindexing the site, please come back later" because that file happened to be listed in the recent commits :-) I'm probably doing something wrong, but what ? Only thing I can think of is... - unseen problem when downloading/configuring Qt5 apps, compared to the way SculptOS does it ? - problem with underlying configuration/system-integration ? I use nitpicker and event_filter as per basic .run file examples Thanks for any hint on this, it's driving me nuts, Cedric

Sculpt packages request

Hi folks, i am trying to set up an app that "requires usb devices rom, shared fs, and vm fs" this three are the ones i get once i strike the + , the "Download" at the bottom left of screen looks like is trying to fetch for these packages but is failing, is there another way to install these packages besides having to use this one repository. i am running 23.11. Thank you

Announcement: Genode OS Framework version 23.11 released

At the dusk of November, we have just released version 23.11 of the Genode OS Framework, which includes all the recent improvements present in Sculpt OS 23.10 as well as plenty of new feats and features. https://genode.org/news/genode-os-framework-release-23.11 Just to name the highlights, the new version moves the IOMMU driver from the kernel to the user land, introduces the monitoring and steering of CPU power/temperature/frequency, comes with a new API for low-complexity GUI applications, and streamlines the framework's virtualization interface. It also improves developer ergonomics and showcases the port of the Linphone VoIP stack. Hi Martin, If I can manage to just run vbox with 8G is an improvement for me, I am stuck with my default 4G memory it seems.
