Using C++11 by default

Hello, I would like to go with the times and switch Genode to use C++11 by default. This will enable us to solve a number of problems in a more elegant way, e.g., by using variadic templates for the RPC framework, we can possibly get rid of the current limit of the number of RPC functions supported by the 'GENODE_RPC_INTEFACE' declarations. Are there any objections from Genode users? For example, is anyone of you still using a custom tool chain that does not support C++11? If no one disagrees, I would go forward and add '-std=gnu++11' as default argument to g++. Regards Norman -- Dr.-Ing. Pci driver can not handle multiple root complex system

Hi all, I just found out current Genode pci driver does not support a system with multiple root complexes. More specifically, in the bus_valid() function, it only scans all the devices under the first root complex (starting from bus number 0). As a result, other devices under different root complexes are considered INVALID, thus will be skipped by pci driver code. Maybe a simple patch will fix the problem. Genode Hack'n Hike 2013

Hello, I'd like to share the following excerpt of the latest Genode-Labs newsletter with you: Join us at Genode's Hack'n Hike event ------------------------------------- In spring of 2012, we held the first instance of the Genode Hack'n Hike, which were wonderful days full of hacking, relaxing, brain- storming, and enjoying the magnificent nature of the Saxon Switzerland together. From the feedback we got from the attendees, it goes without saying that this should not stay a singular event, but rather be the prelude of a tradition. Hence, we have fixed the date for this year's Hack'n Hike: Begin: Wednesday, September 11 End: Monday, September 16 We extended the duration of the event over that of last year's. Whether you'd like to drop by for just a few hours, or you'd like to stay for the whole time, you are welcome to join in. Genode Labs will sponsor the accommodation. Re : Platform-specific files in the Genode system

Hello I'm trying to port Genode on to pandaboard on Fiasco.OC. In base-foc/config there a list of platform specific kernel, user (panda.kernel and panda.user) files generated. How are those files generated? Also, in certain folders of os/src/drivers/ and os/include/ have platform specific files coded. How are they related/utilised to/in the build process? DDE on real machines

Hi, Can someone check DDE is still working on a real PC target? I am using fiasco.oc and 64bit but I think the problem is across kernels. Basically my issue is that DHCP is not working and it appears that the rx interrupt is not firing (according to foc jdb). I've tried the latest genode with run/lwip. Daniel

L4 bootstrap console output issue

Hi, I recently changed to using the Fiasco.OC source from Genode. I have just noticed problems with the bootstrap not outputting to the console on certain machines. The h/w is checked as ok, and if we replace bootstrap with r56 version from TU Dresden then everything is ok. Are there some Genode-specific changes to bootstrap on r46? P.S. I didn't notice the problem until I did a full rebuild so I'm not sure when the issue crept in. Daniel
