genode bare hardware on the odroids - howto?

Hello wonderful people! Greetings and thanks for the awesome work with genode. I have been trying to run genode on bare hardware on the odroids -> odroid-x2/odroid-xu for which I presume - they are already supported (the release notes mention them). What is missing is a step by step guide of building say, nested_init or a simpler printf application which shows some output when run from the uboot prompt. I tried following the instructions as mentioned in http://genode.org/documentation/platforms/hw (it generates an elf file, but then passing RUN_OPT="--target uboot" did not create the uImage file. Well, I did convert the elf to a bin file with objcopy and then converted that to an uImage file with mkimage. Am not sure if that is correct. What, I ask is, is there a step by step which will get me an UART output from genode on any of the supported odroid's using the latest genode code from git? Any pointers to such a doc would be immensely helpful to me as I would like to explore genode. Thanks in advance! Regards - Suriyan

strance error when running Nova + Genode + Seoul (scenarion : seoul-auto.run)

Hello, Can anyone help out? AHCI Driver

Hello everyone, The error message ``Device does not support native command queuing: abort'' is written repeatedly to the log when I try to read from a SATA disk using the AHCI driver. Is this driver only meant to work with a SATA disk that supports native command queuing (the HBA supports it)? While looking at the code of the driver to determine the cause of the error I noticed that: 1. In ahci.cc en main.cc the word `available' has been misspelt as 'avaiable'. 2. In ahci.h the bitfield that indicates support for native command queuing in the HBA seems to be misspelt as `Sncg'. There is also a function with the name `ncg' and this abbreviation is also used in the function `info'. 3. The struct `Identity' in ahci.h describes the structure of the result of an ATA command. Is there a reason why this struct and the corresponding function `identify_device' are not in the file `ata_driver.h'? Best regards, Harm

Porting Genode to the ZedBoard

Hello Genodians, I am trying to port Genode to the ZedBoard, but currently I am having some problems to get the UART online. My starting point is this mail: <http://sourceforge.net/p/genode/mailman/message/33222798/> and as a reference I use the Pandaboard, because it has also a Cortex A9. So is it right, that the board_base.h is in some way like a devicetree file? If this is the case, how can I add some other devices like Ethernet, OLED-Display or the FPGA? Is there some more documentation on how to port Genode to another hardware? To come back to the UART: I hope that I can use the PL011 driver, because the ZedBoard does not have the TL16C750 chip from the Pandaboard (the ZedBoard has a Ti TUSB1210 chip). So is this possible? I think I already have the right base addresses from the technical reference manual, but I am still not getting on how to set the clock and the interrupts. Looking forward to your replies.

Using ARM/Neon fp hardware with libc

Hi all, I'm exploring compiling a couple of targets in my Genode, base-hw system to use the hardware fp in the Neon coprocessor on an ARM Cortex A8 SOC, to get some performance improvement. I can add the CC_OPT line containing -mfloat-abi=hard and -mfu=neon-vfpv4 to appropreate target.mk. That should result in the Neon fp unit being called to perform the calculations. If I want use libc math functions I assume I must recompile libc with the same compile options added. Are there build variables that allow me to do that to the libc library? Genode on Muen issues

Hi All, Today, I am investigating the use of Genode on Muen as that sounds like a very interesting project in the separations kernel arena. With this in mind, I have started by looking at the: genode/repos/base-hw/doc/x86_64_muen.txt In that document, it says to start by getting the muen repository git clone http://git.codelabs.ch/git/muen.git I started that seem to have gotten most of the repository but the muen.git calls for another git clone: ------------------------------------------------- lonnie@...355...:~$ git clone --recursive http://git.codelabs.ch/git/muen.git Cloning into 'muen'... I am wondering if anyone else has run across this and, if so, then what was your solution? I want to play around with muen a bit, but would wonder if it might, eventually be possible to get virtualbox/genode/muen working since from what I have read on muen, that it still needs a bit of work to support other VM's beyond the simple xv6 VM which apparently was modified to make work (if I understand what was said in the Auguse 29, 2013 muen-report pdf document.
