Genode doesn't see init when booting from grub2 on hard drive

I've installed Genode on a partition on my hard drive, and configured Grub2 to boot it. However, Genode cannot find the ROM module "init". I configured Grub2 correctly--I used multiboot and added all the modules, including init. Note that I can boot from a cd with no problems besides graphics issues. I don't see any reason for the error besides Grub2 loading the modules differently. Is there any fix to make Genode compatible with Grub2? Could someone else try using Grub2 and see whether they get the same error?

Binary Compatibility

How reasonable would it be to make genode binaries (aside from core and init) compatible across different kernels? It seems that putting kernel-specific code into a shared library would work. How would this affect performance?

Init Config Security

It seems that with the init config files generated by the run scripts, if any server/driver is compromised, it can take over the system, by requesting access to important services, such as those in the <parent-provides> section. It seems that to make init's config secure, one would have to explicitly name every service needed by a server and deny access to all others. Am I correct? If not, please enlighten me.

CPU frequency on i.MX53 QSB?

Hi everyone, I still use my setup based on the tz_vmm runscript. I want to obtain the current cpu frequency in both secure and normal world. In linux, the sysfs directories for the cpu are empty. How can i read the current CPU frequency in genode? Maybe dynamic frequency scaling in unsupported and I can assume the CPU to always run at max frequency (1GHz in this case)? thanks! David

ATA support

Would it be reasonable to add libATA to DDE_Linux? I would like to run Genode on my computer and port various programs and libraries to Genode, but I can't get the ATA (ATAPI) driver to detect my hard drive (or my CD drive, for that matter). My computer's motherboard lacks AHCI support, and I don't feel inclined to buy a new computer for Genode, since my computer is good (has a quad-core processor and 4GB RAM) and is working just fine and I don't have a lot of money. As it is, unless I can get support for my hard drive, I'll probably have to drop Genode for about 4 years until I upgrade.

Genode is out of frequency range on 1920x1080 monitor

My computer has a 1920x1080 monitor, and, when I run Genode from a CD, my monitor gives me an "out of frequency range" error when it starts the terminal echo test. This seems to be a bug in fb_drv. I have an intel i915 graphics card, if that helps.

ATAPI driver still not working

The ATAPI driver is still unable to detect my hard drive (or my CD drive for that matter), even though I have switched to a 32-bit Genode system. Any help?

Conference "New Directions in Operating Systems" in London

Hello everyone, I was made aware of the following event titled "New Directions in Operating Systems", which takes place on 25 November in London. http://operatingsystems.io The conference is organized by members of the Rump-kernel community. Since Genode is using Rump kernels, e.g., to provide file systems, there is an obvious connection between both projects. I am planning to attend and possibly give a talk. About privileged instructions on L4android

Hi All, Can someone tells me how to execute ARM privileged instruction on L4android, such as " MCR, MRC......" I have a piece of code that needs to execute privileged instructions, but I don't want to put it all into the kernel ----Fiasco.OC. I want to know if L4android have any good ways to solve this problem.
