sync() not implemented by rumpfs

Hello, while experimenting with rumpfs I noticed that sync() is not supported by rumpfs. I added a sync() call in ../test/libc_ffat/main.cc and executed make run/rump_ext2. I got the following message: [init -> test-libc_vfs] DUMMY sync(): sync called, not implemented I guess, a filesystem not supporting sync() is of greatly reduced value. Error for l4android with Genode 14.11

Hi all, When I run l4android (3.5) with the latest Genode, I got an error, the args for l4android in run script is "mem=512M console=ttys0 l4x_rd=root-lc.gz". So I compared the L4Linux support library with previous versions, I found the funtion "l4re_ma_alloc" (in ports-foc/src/lib/l4lx/l4_re_c_mem_alloc.cc) has changed, and l4android will use the function for memory allocation. Can somebody tells me why make that adjustment? Is it the reason why l4android produces that error?

Linux: ELF or RAW Binary File

Hello all, My query is not related to Genode, But still if some one help me in this that will be a great help for me. Actually, I am trying to build linux source code and that is successfully build. I got a uImage which is successfully running on the ARM board. But I want to create .elf or .bin image of kernel to load. Can some body help me to create these file.? Thanks, Franc

Help compiling Genode with other version of Fiasco.OC

Hi I'm trying to compile Genode using another Fiasco.OC version. I'm using Fiasco.OC from snapshot(2014022815). I have added the etc/foc.conf file with L4_BUILD_DIR = /home/millo/l4re-snapshot-2014022815/src/l4/build KERNEL = /home/millo/l4re-snapshot-2014022815/src/kernel/fiasco/build/fiasco I have compiled the Fiaco.OC export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/genode-gcc/bin/ export SYSTEM_TARGET=genode-x86- On Fiasco.OC source folder: make BUILDDIR=build cd build make menuconfig make -j8 On L4Re source folder: make B=build make O=build SYSTEM_TARGET=genode-x86- menuconfig make O=build SYSTEM_TARGET=genode-x86- -j8 On L4Re building process get the error: ==> Linking dde26_test ... undefined reference to `__emutls_v.__libc_errno' Trying to build Genode for foc_x86 ignoring the L4Re error y got another error, and it seems that Genode is not using the new Fiasco.OC version make cleanall make run/printf make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/millo/GenodeOS/build/foc_x86_32' genode build completed using fiasco kernel /home/millo/GenodeOS/build/foc_x86_32/kernel/fiasco.oc/fiasco using sigma0/bootstrap at /home/millo/GenodeOS/build/foc_x86_32/l4 cp: cannot stat `/home/millo/GenodeOS/build/foc_x86_32/l4/bin/x86_586/l4f/sigma0': No such file or directory Somebody have tested Genode with another version of Fiasco.OC? Part_blk/USB issue

I have been experimenting with things related to my issue when using part_blk with ahci, and I have found that it works fine in both QEMU and Virtualbox. However, when I combine part_blk with usb_drv, I encounter what appears to be the exact same problem, but it only occurs on some of the kernels. The scenario works bug-free on okl4 and fiasco, but freezes on foc and nova. Note that other servers such as rump_fs work just fine with the usb driver, so the problem isn't a simple driver failure. I've attached the run script for the usb and part_blk scenario. I hope this helps fix my AHCI issue (which only occurs on real hardware) as well.

Raspberry Pi Prospects and/or Alternative

Hi, There seems to be Raspberry Pi support in the Genode base-hw kernel. To what extent is this (non)functional? Can someone estimate how much effort it would take to make the NIC work? Alternatively, can someone recommend a similarly priced/specced board that has 20+ GPIO pins and on which Genode supports the NIC? Thanks, -Slim -- Jeroen "Slim" van Gelderen

Ring buffer overflow in fb_sdl

I was playing a little with demo on linux and I was able to crash fb_sdl process. I could do it only after suspend/resume of linux host and I understand that this process exists more for testing/development purpose but I have more general question about this crash. Crash was due to unhandled Ring_buffer::Overflow exception in: for (;;) input_session.submit(wait_for_event()); What is the proper way to handle such situations? Should it block on submit call? Should submit call be wrapped with try/catch and retried after some time? -- Tomasz Gajewski

Bionic Porting Errors

Hello, I am trying to port Bionic Libc on to Genode. At time,I'm struck with the following error that comes when i compiled the library. /home/paramesh/genode-14.08/mybuild/var/libcache/bionic_libc_x86/bionic_libc_x86.lib.a(syscall.o): relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against undefined symbol `__set_errno' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC >From the above compilation error, I understood that *bionic_libc_x86.lib.a* is not compiled with* -fPIC* flag enabled(which is needed for Position Independent code generation by compiler and that is what essentially needed in Shared LIb buiding(*bionic_libstdc++.lib.so*) that uses the above static library). So, i assigned *-fPIC* flag to compiler variable *CC_OPT* to resolve it, but it is not showing the effect. So, can any one tell me how can I resolve it. How to build L4android with genode

Hi all, I want to build L4android. I can’t find ‘l4android.run’ in latest release of genode, which is metioned in genode/repos/ports-foc/readme. I got l4android.run from genode 12.08, but failed to build it. Where can I get the right run script of l4android ? Best, Zachary
