run/wifi on intel 5100

The wifi driver seems to work just fine on intel 5100 cards with the tweak suggested in the latest release notes. I just had to add an entry to drv.c for the card, and then make some tweaks to the wifi.run script. I also added the firmware for my card (not sure if it used it). Note: I couldnt find the required "bin/iwlwifi-6000-6.ucode" file and just copied "bin/iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode" instead. AHCI (cont)

Gmail is strugging with sending one or more of my emails, so I've created a new email thread. Basically, AHCI isn't working with part_blk for me. I am running genode (foc_x86_32) on real hardware. With rom_blk, part_blk works fine. With ahci, it freezes. I have found the line of code in part_blk relevant to the freezing to be the following part of partition_table.h: _session(Driver::driver().session()) Any help?

Netperf - faild error

Hi, I am trying change the netperf_lwip. run file to make it suitable in my test . I would like to run netperf only on RPI and make it send request to the local machine . to get that : - i update the netperf.c in contrib/netperfXX/sre/app/netperf/src - i great new .mk to get netperf in prots/src/app - and then I changed the run file when i test it , it compile correctly and when it start i got the next messages [init -> netperf_genode] DUMMY getpid(): getpid called , not implemented [init -> netperf_genode] plugin() -> open("") failed. which plugin it means? best.

graphics in lenovo

I booted a few images on two thinkpad devices. On my T410s with an NVidia graphics card ("VGA compatible controller" "NVIDIA Corporation" "GT218M [NVS 3100M]" -ra2 "Lenovo" "Device 21cd") everything worked well. On the T500 with an intel graphics card I had problems. ("VGA compatible controller" "Intel Corporation" "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" -r07 "Lenovo" "Device 20e4"). In text mode everything was fine but when it switched to graphics mode, the screen had tearing. This can be seen in http://imgur.com/c9KPv2H . The serial (AMT) output seems to indicate it tried to get the right video mode from VESA: [init -> fb_drv] Using video mode: 1680 x 1050 x 16 The full serial output can be seen at http://pastebin.com/guH2QAB5 Any idea why it wasnt able to set up the video properly here? I am about to jump in to try to run virtualbox in genode on intel hardware (lenovo). I was wondering if anyone's documented their experiences setting this up yet? Norman, I think you are right to point to Nix on Noux, and I will make it my next priority. Even if it were practical to reuse legacy package expressions from Nixpkgs it would be much easier if there was a mature Noux Nix running natively rather than going through a lot of cross-compilation and bootstrapping on a Linux host first. Getting Nix to compile should be straightforward, but building and storing outputs will take some consideration and probably a few design iterations to work well on Genode, though I'm certain it will yield some novel improvements over POSIX Nix. I don't yet have any concrete ideas on what changes would be made, but I will know more as I inspect Noux and Nix. recommended hardware

What laptop hardware do you recommend for using genode? I noticed one of the presentations was done using genode to display slides from a lenovo thinkpad of some sort. Is this what the genode team is using and what they're targeting for daily use? VBox influences applications running on other CPUs

Hello again, this issue is related to my previous message. My goal is not only to run VBox+Android but also some other secure applications in parallel. Therefore I introduced a small server that multiplexes the Input and Framebuffer session so that it is possible to switch between Android and Nitpicker based on a key stroke. I attached a runscript to illustrate the setup. In my setup VBox+Android are executed on one CPU and everything else runs on another CPU. This SMP setup is necessary as otherwise Android stops booting up. Parallel load during startup of Android seems to have some influence and stops execution of the VM, but so far I could not identify the reason. To the problem: Not only the performance of Android is very bad, but the whole system feels slow and unresponsive. Applications like liquid_framebuffer are significantly slowed down when VBox is running. This happens also when the VM is actually in a halted state. I find it very strange that VBox running on one CPU has such a strong impact on the performance of Apps running on another CPU. It leaves me wondering if there is something wrong with synchronization or the scheduler itself. Do you have any ideas or hints? All best Christian

In which i have put Genode OS image (printf script) as a guest OS in the Normal world to test the switching between the Secure world to the Normal world.
