Android no NW - i.MX53 QSB

Hi, I'm trying to boot Android in the Normal World of an i.MX53 QSB using U-boot in the Secure World as the bootloader. I've adapted U-boot in order to switch to Normal World upon a SMC call. The Android version I'm using is Adeneo BSP for Android Gingerbread v4.3. Android boots fine when I disable the world switch in U-boot, but when I try to boot it in the Normal World it freezes in a Kernel Panic before running the Init. I followed the patch made by Stefan Kalkowski (as suggested in https://community.freescale.com/thread/308152 ) because I was experiencing a similar problem (FAILED TO RELEASE IRAM PARTITION). Unlike Miao Yu in that post my execution didn't stop there. I thought this would be enough to run Android in the Secure World (because this is what Stefan did) but apparently it didn't work. The problem remains the same. What happens is the kernel boots successfully and then the following flow occurs: (1) init_post() at kernel/init/main.c:826 (2) run_init_process() at kernel/init/main.c:817 (3) kernel_execve() at kernel/arch/arm/kernel/sys_arm.c:81 Inside kernel_execve() when we return to user space by manipulating the kernel stack (asm code below) it lauches a Kernel Panic and init is never executed. ASM CODE: asm( ... "b ret_to_user" : : "r" (current_thread_info()), "Ir" (THREAD_START_SP - sizeof(regs)), "r" (&regs), "Ir" (sizeof(regs)) : "r0", "r1", "r2", "r3", "ip", "lr", "memory"); In addition we noticed that the execution jumps to do_undefinstr at kernel/arch/arm/kernel/entry-armv.S:689 b do_undefinstr Besides this we confirmed that init is never executed by adding a print to init's main function (src/system/core/init/init.c:713). new genode-desktop-environment repository

I've created a new genode-desktop-environment repo. It currently contains my file manager, as well as a readme with my vision for a (somewhat) integrated desktop environment. Given that the components will be integrated to work together, I believe it makes sense to keep my repo separate from the genode-world repo.

Implementing additional SPECS in genode-world

This is a follow-up of my previous approach [1] on separating the support of additional platforms from the official repository: In addition to the zynq_qemu SPEC variable that is already existent in the official repository, I'd like to add SPEC variables like `zynq_parallella` and `zynq_zedboard` to genode-world. However, I just ran into a conceptual problem that I'd like to discuss here. First, I can place a core.mk in genode-world/lib/mk/specs/zynq_parallella, which is then used as soon as I change the SPECS from zynq_qemu to zynq_parallella. I am also able to set the include directories properly. The point where I got stuck, however, is that I need to include the less-specific configuration files within base-hw, which I achieve by the following line: include $(call select_from_repositories,lib/mk/spec/zynq/core.inc) Now, the issue is that including makefiles from other repositories won't work properly. This is due to the fact that $REP_DIR (used e.g. in core.inc) will evaluate to `[...]/repos/world` and not `[...]/repos/base-hw`. Hello, The initial steps of compilation and building the SD card were not clear. It took me few days to understand whats going on with the building procedure. I will share the script file soon. There are some changes I am making to it. Then maybe you can incorporate it into the repository. I see that the wiki got updated. Thanks for that. Regarding your USB-connection issue: IMO, the USB events that your dmesg shows are not from the integrated USB of the USB Armory but the UART-to-USB converter you've attached to the device. So, apparently you're missing feedback from the host controller at all. Could you please send the UART output of your USB Armory for further analysis? Is Foasco+Genode support sched_yield()?

Hi, all I use genode-16.02.tar.bz2 and prepare as follow. make -C repos/base-foc/ prepare ./tool/ports/prepare_port libc Then compile run/thread, it works well. ./tool/create_builddir foc_x86_64 BUILD make -C build_foc_x86_64/ run/thread I need call sched_yield() in this demo, but it dose not work. Is libc support sched_yield() on Fiasco+Genode? Problem with the AHCI driver

Hello, I'm trying to create a custom Turmvilla-like scenario on my computer, but I'm running into a problem similar to the one Nobody III experienced ( https://sourceforge.net/p/genode/mailman/genode-main/thread/20150601102048.…) : when trying to access a physical hard disk with ahci_drv and part_blk, both components are launched, and ahci_drv reports the ATA device correctly, but the session is never built (part_blk hangs somewhere in the Driver constructor and ahci_drv never executes the _create_session function of Root_multiple_clients). The test run script works perfectly on Qemu however, and the content of the drive is read correctly. I experienced the same issue on my laptop, but I couldn't get any debug information because it doesn't have a serial port. Enabling or disabling IOMMU didn't affect the outcome. Did I miss something or is the hardware I'm using simply unsupported (the computer from which the linked logs where obtained is a Dell Optiplex 7010 with a c216 chipset) ? Should I open a new issue on the GitHub ? Regards, Charles

Some inter thread/component communication questions

Hi Everyone, I've some questions with regards to Genode synchronization features between threads and components. First a question about packet streams: 1) Can we expect the packet streams to deliver packets in order to the other component as a FIFO? Thus: can we expect the packet submitted first, to be delivered first at the other component? Also when bursts of packets are send through the packet stream? Other questions are with regards to synchronization between multiple threads within the same component: 2) Say we have 2 threads in the same component, where Thread A needs to sleep until an event occurs in Thread B. How to address this? If A and B were components, signals would be the answer. Would signals also work between threads within the same component or is there some other approach? 3) What if those same 2 threads need to exchange data? When data is shared between components, shared memory would be the answer. How to approach this with 2 threads within the same component. Setup a shared data space? Do those 2 threads share the same heap which we can use for this exchange? Thanks for thinking along. Kind regards, Menno PS.
