How to compile genode os code along with .so file from some other library

Hello I want to do some modifications to genode code using a C library, I want to compile Genode code along with a .so file from some third party library and the corresponding .h file. I am using functions from that library in vm_base.h in os sub-directory. Is there some simple way to directly change the Makefile to include .so file or something similar? Thanks Abhishek

Attempting to create a custom noux_bash.run

I've studied as many network run scripts as I could in order to make a custom noux_bash.run with wifi and lynx. I'm also adding tools to compile and debug C code. But, I think it's in really bad shape :/ If anyone out there can help proofread my run script and provide assistance and suggestions, it would be very much appreciated :)))) https://github.com/baconicsynergy/run-scripts Also... I know absolutely nothing about the Nix/Git package manager that was recently added. Could someone help me get started?

Accessing virtual address of normal world in secure world in genode-tz

Hello I am trying to convert virtual address (corresponding to normal world) stored in instruction pointer into virtual address in tz_vmm, in order to read the instruction which caused the exception in normal world linux and process accordingly. Though we do have physical address (using va_to_pa function), but it is not helping in any way to read the instruction stored at that physical address. Is there any way other than switching MMU off. Bender cannot relocate

When I try to run arora on Genode (tried with both nova and hw) in Qemu, even with plenty of ram (-ram 4096), I run into the following error: spawn qemu-system-x86_64 -machine type=pc,accel=kvm -display sdl -cpu core2duo -vga cirrus -net nic,model=e1000 -net user -serial mon:stdio -cdrom var/run/arora.iso warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:EDX.ss [bit 27] Bender: Hello World. Modules might overlap. Relocate to f40000, but module at 00226000-072a0b17. Cannot relocate. phdr 200000+1e70 overlaps with module 201000-225078 200d+25'/hypervisor iommu serial novpid novga' Exit with status 1. Rebooting... I haven't tested x86_32, given how long it takes to compile Qt, so I don't know whether the issue is just for x86_64 or for all x86. Any ideas on what's going wrong and how to fix it?

File Manager

I've updated and simplified my file manager. It's incomplete, but it should still work. Feel free to give it a try. Any help would be appreciated. Unable to use csu_config.h to secure GPIO access from normal world

Hello I am using genode trustzone code on imx53 board. AFAIU, following lines in csu_config.h are supposed to regulate the access from normal world: ``` namespace Csu_config { enum { SECURE_GPIO = 1, SECURE_ESDHC = 0, SECURE_UART = 0, SECURE_I2C = 1, }; }; ``` Though GPIO is set secure, I am still able to set direction and value of gpios from the linux running in normal world, on top of tz_vmm running in secure world. Should it not raise some exception? Where am I going wrong? Thanks Abhishek

VFS documentation

I've been modifying my file manager to use the VFS library as its backend, but I'm not entirely sure how to use properly, and I haven't found much documentation on how to use it (especially how to write to files) asynchronously. Could someone please explain this, and ideally add it to the official documentation as well?

Depot Packages

The new depot packaging system is great, but the current set of available packages is rather limited, especially when it comes to binary packages. I'd like this to change, and I'd be happy to be involved, but I don't know what to do, so could someone please answer the following questions: Are there plans to provide a complete set of pre-built packages (including for x86_64) to the online repo? How do I make my own repo publicly available? I have built most of the packages myself, and have published them locally, but I need to upload them. Can I get my own packages hosted on depot.genode.org,? If not, can you suggest where else I should publish them? How should I go about writing depot recipes for various ports (e.g. qt5)?

Genode OS Framework version 17.05 released

We just released the version 17.05 of the Genode OS Framework. According to our road map, this version is designated as a suitable basis for development branches to be maintained over a longer period of time. With this goal in mind, the release cycle was focused on wrapping up our great API renovation that we started of year ago, and on updating fundamental parts of the framework that we want to keep stable in the foreseeable future.
