snprintf() doesn't use format size specifiers

Hello If I try to format some data in a anligned string with Genode::snprintf(), the data is stored in the string, but my additional format specifier for the field width aren't respected. My string is: static const char* lineFormat = "%5d \"%25s\" \"%25s\" %10s %5d\r\n" If I do want to right align the numbers (%-5d) the function crashes my program. The comment on the functoin doesn't specify that format sizes arn't supported. Best regards Pirmin Duss

library porting problem

Hello everyone, I'm porting Bionic Libc on to Genode. Even though there are few warnings that needs to be resolved, the library is compiling fine so far. I have a problem in running the library. In normal libc, in its test application main.cc(/repos/libports/src/test/libc, consisting of only printf statments), if I comment the inclusion of *stdio.h* instead *using namespace Genode* then it prints the statements as it is supposed to print with libc. As far as my understanding it is using the Genode printf() help to print the statements, not the libc printf(). But, in my library(bionic), the same thing is not working after the same changes as above(with same main.cc ). Its not printing anything and waiting infinitely. I cannot understand how to interpret this problem, Is it problem with Library? The run file of my library is similar to the *libc* run file. -- Thanks and Regards, Paramesh.O M.Tech. Freescale i.MX 53 SABRE tablet - TrustZone demonstration

Hello, I'm trying to reproduce the demonstration in the article: http://genode.org/documentation/articles/trustzone I've followed the readme instructions ( https://github.com/skalk/genode/blob/i.MX53_tablet_demo/os/src/server/vmm/i… ). and also tried to download the pre-built image. With both i get the same result. The TrustZone GUI loads nicely, but when i turn on the 'normal world' by pressing the 'play' button, the android hangs and don't complete the boot, it hangs when the small tux (Linux penguin logo) is on the top right corner. If I'm connected through the RS-232 debug interface, the android underlying linux is responding and i get a shell. The Linux keeps 'killing' the netd process over and over again: init: untracked pid XXXX exited sometimes i also get: request_suspend_state: on (0->0) at XXXXXXXXXXXX (1970-01-02 3:15:26.3252353422 UTC) I loaded the image.elf to sdcard, and plugged it to the SABRE tablet, on the u-boot countdown i hit a key and load the image using "ext2load mmc ....." and then launching the image using 'go'. Also, android libraries are not loaded, so 'svc', 'am' and other android commands do not work (could not load libandroid_runtime.so). Is there any modifications need to made to the android / Linux guest for the demonstration ? Any idea what needs to be changed or why this is happening ? Thanks

FIQ Exception in tz_vmm

Hi all, I am working on imx6 SABER Lite board. I tried to enable TZASC(TrustZone Address Space Controller) through fuse programming and i guess it works fine. when i make RAM region secure in which Normal OS(another Genode image) is running it gives me pf_abort exception which seems to be fine (guess). But I am always getting the FIQ exception as virtual machine start in secure world. What could be the reason behind this ? Libcrypto in Genode

Hi, I have been doing some work using cryptography in Genode with the libcrypto library from OpenSSL and I'm encountering some errors that seem curious to me. If I use everything related with openssl in the Main of a program, eg public key, private key, etc... The following warning pop up when I start the main: Could not open file "config" Could not obtain config file no VFS configured There are pretty obvious since I simply didn't configure a VFS or made a config file for openssl. It hasn't really given me any problems yet. I get these errors when I go for the first encryption: no plugin found for fcntl(2) no plugin found for write(2) plugin()->open("") failed The first 2 are probably since libc can't find those 2 plugins. I have no idea what the third error is nor do I know how libc can find the plugins. >From what I found in the mailing list I assume I should configure a VFS but I'm not sure. Again, execution goes on after this, no real problems. And once all is done failed to submit signal context virtual void Genode::Rm_session_component::detach(Genode::Rm_session::Local_addr): no attachment at 1ff000 No idea why this is happening. but it's also not really giving any problems. The programs exits nicely after this. The problems appear when I try to use cryptography in a thread. Everything works fine before I start the thread, eg. during the constructor of the thread, but once the start function of the thread is called, I get the following error when I try to encrypt any data: init -> crypto_test -> crypto: unresolved pagefault at ip=5e6dc core -> pager_activation: cannot submit unknown signal context 0 And then execution stops. The main reason I don't understand why this is happening is since it does seem to work when used in a main. Could this have something to do with the plugins that can't be found? Seems unlikely to me. What seems more likely is that it's related to the use of the c library in a thread or to the final warning I get when executing it in a main but as I said, no idea why this's happening or what to do about it. Any input as to why this is happening or even better how to fix it, would be much appreciated. Best regards, Vincent

Hello everyone, I am stuck at one point because of lack of understanding in Genode, Actually I want to execute some assembly instruction in privileged mode in base-hw kernel from a user script. So I need to know, How will I add a kernel module which will execute assembly instruction and how can I call this module from the user space. TrustZone Support on TI AM335x Sitara Starter Kit

Dear list, With a specific project in mind that requires two 1 GE network interfaces to essentially bridge Ethernet traffic, I am tempted to order a TMDSSK3358 - AM335x Starter Kit for development [1], and eventually later move to the Little Universal Network Appliance (LUNA) [2, 3]. For 200 USD/Euro (even in Switzerland), this kit seems to be pretty good value, considering that it includes a 720 MHz AM3358, dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and also provides JTAG to USB as well as UART to USB converters on-board (no need for JTAG Debug or serial adaptors), besides a touch-screen LCD. What still holds me back is somewhat conflicting information from TI about TrustZone support in their AM335x Sitara family, and no word about TZ support by their Starter Kit. After doing some in-depth research, my current understanding is that TI Sitara have TZ support inherently baked in being ARM v7 Cortex-A8 processors. However, they boot into "normal mode" with no way to get back into "secure mode" [4]. Unless I could convince TI to let me sign a NDA in order to get access to documentation (eventually blow on-chip fuses, and keys to sign my OS/app?) which might let my code boot/run in "secure mode" with the TMDSSK3358 [5, 6]. Has anyone experience with TrustZone support on AM335x, and can confirm my understanding, or provide additional pointers? Alternatively, can you recommend other ARM dev boards with dual NICs (not via USB!), TrustZone support like the Freescale i.MX53 ARM Cortexâ¢-A8 that is on the USB Armory, and which is "affordable"? Data Abort MMU exception on mapped IO register read

Hi, I'm running with 15.02, base-hw on a TI AM3359 processor. I've successfully created device drivers for most of the devices on the peripheral bus without issue. Accessing the the final device i need a driver for, is causing me fits. I attached the IO device register space with the usual creation of a Attached_io_mem_dataspace based object which also uses the very useful MMIO utility object. I also tried it without MMIO and just accessed the space through local_addr<void>. When I try to read an address in the mapped space I get an "unknown MMU exception". When I write to the same address no error occurs (I'm assuming for now it's failing silently). Putting PDBG's in the arm thread code shows that the error on the read is is being caused by a DATAT_ABORT. Peeking at the data fault status register (dfsr) shows 0x805 which according the the the ARM7 technical reference manual decodes to a translation table error. The virtual address created when the io device is mapped is 0x81B0_0000 (the load_addr<void>), but I see no section table entry being created for 0x8100_0000. Only one is created at 0x8000_0000. If I'm remembering correctly sections are 16 MB is size for this architecture. I'm instrumenting short_translation_table.h to see what translation table entries are being created. I also don't seen any short translation table entries being created in the 0x81bxx_xxxx region. My platform support code does include the physical address and size for the region containing the device I'm trying to access. The only physical difference with this device and the others I've successfully created drivers for, is that is runs of the L4 interconnection whereas the others were on the L3 interconnect. In this SoC the L4 is bridged to the L3 interconnect and runs at half the speed of the L3 bus. But I doubt that this would make any difference to the mapping of the device. This device is also much higher in memory that the other devices. Any hints at further debugging of this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Stewart
