Hello Genodeans
I have upgraded my Sculpt notebook with a 1T NVME disk as I want to use different virtual machines.
When I hit expand and configm, the expansion starts and about 20 seconds later the following message is printed:
[runtime -> nvme-0.3.resize2fs] resource_request: ram_quota=30535680 [runtime] child "nvme-0.3.resize2fs" requests ressource: ram=30535680
A reboot is required, to use the disk again.
If I boot the system afterwards, the partition is resized to 1T.
Best regards Pirmin
Hello again
Quoting Duss Pirmin pirmin@trimpim.ch:
If I boot the system afterwards, the partition is resized to 1T.
Further investigations when bootet from a live Linux shows, that the inode count has not been updated.
#df -i /mnt Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on /dev/nvme0n1 1136 18 1118 2% /mnt
Best regards Pirmin
Hello Pirmin,
I admire your courage to resize2fs from the initial GENODE partition to 1 TB as there are many stories from people failing such attempts (with Linux as host system). Therefore, I suggest you use the Linux live system at hand to remove the original tiny GENODE partition, create a new one with the desired size, and create a fresh ext2 file system on it. Don't miss to restore the file contents.
Regards

I was able to resize the partition in Genode, by yust increasing the RAM amount to 800M and restart the component via the version tag in /config/deploy.
When I tried to do partition stuff with gparted/resize2fs in a live linux, the system wouldn't boot anymore.
After expanding the partition in Genode, I was able to resize the partition. And was able to reboot the system.
