Hello, I have the pinephone pro explorer edition, which is a bit newer and has more features than basic pinephone. It was released a long time before Genode 23.02, however I am not sure if the recent Genode update will work on this hardware. I have been eagerly following Genode in hopes for when it will work on my PCs.
Thanks for your feedback and reply, DV03
Hi DV03,
AFAIK, no one has officially tested Genode with the PinePhone Pro Explorer so far. A short look at the hardware reveals that the main CPU is the same (Quadcore ARM Cortex A53) but there are also some differences where I'd expect problems with the ready-to-use image:
Supported version | Pro Explorer ----------------------------------- Allwinner A64 | Rockchip RK3399S MALI-400MP2 | Mali T860MP4 USB2.0 | USB3.0
Regarding the Rockchip RK3399 (and apparently also USB), Michael Grunditz is currently working on platform support. You can find the related posts of him from 2023-01-26 till today in the list archive [1].
Maybe you could just give it a try on your own? I think everyone here at the list would be interested in your findings!
Cheers, Martin

the PinePhone Pro includes a totally different System-on-Chip, namely a Rockchip RK3399S in contrast to the Allwinner A64 that the "normal" PinePhone includes, which Genode supports.
In short, no I'm sorry until now Genode does not support it.

the topic was touched during our road-map discussion in January [1].

Personally, I have no concrete plans in this direction. As the PinePhone Pro has a completely different SoC compared to the regular PinePhone, our existing PinePhone driver components cannot be reused.
That said, Michael's work on the RK3588 [2] would be a good starting point for pursuing such an ambition.
