i tryed today to us scupt-tc.img result on a lenovo g400 "black" screan on a lenovo x201 only the left upper ( net, devices) no other tool.
what can i do that both work? thanks reiner

is not well tested/supported in Genode. For your initial steps the x201 is a much better candidate.

Please use the latest Sculpt version - which would be sculpt-ce.img, not the sculpt-tc.img you mention here.

in my case it is the T400 therfore not G400 . I think the use of sulpt-ce will be the first step. after this steps i come back.

Hallo zusammen,
nun hab ich gestern das sculpt-ce image auf einen stick mit dd geschrieben. folgendes verhalten: -1- T400 lenovo nach dem bildschirm mit dem genodeschriftzug wird der bildschirm schwarz und eine reboot schleife startet / nach dem dritten versuch hab ich abgebrochen -2- X201 lenovo nach dem bildschirm mit dem genodeschriftzug wird der bildschirm bunt / vertikale striche / und steht / auch hier hab ich abgebrochen -3- nun hab ich mir einen x250 bestellt / ich hoffe darauf ohne probleme -4- sobald das ce img laeuft hab ich in der testumgebung fuer mein phd projekt vor: -- xrandr als port zum laufen zu bekommen / da in meiner arbeitsgruppe der einsatz unterschiedliche bildschirme bis hin zu power walls und kvm geplant ist - fuer verschiedene teilaufgaben sind geplant free /ghostbsd \ netbsd \ ubuntu mate \ debian \ centos ueber oder in genode zu installieren - mitlerweile ueberlegen wird ein team zusammenzustellen dass dann die einzelnen packete als genode port portiert [ wir haben leider hier wenig erfahrung / waeren daher sicher am anfang auf eure hilfe angewiesen ]

its ok to write in english, sorry for my misunderstanding.
in my phd programm i have to have a focus on edxl the emergency dispaching xml language there we run softwar on different systems. no we give genode a try / and think it is a very fine startpoint for integrating platform independed "first" work a round.
in this case i gave yesterday scult-ce a try result: -1- on a T400 lenovo after booting in genode a black screen which run in a reboot loop / after three runs i shut down the system -2- on a X201 lenovo after booting in genode a colored screen apears with vertical strips / the i shut down the system -3- next step i orderd a x250 in the hope that the scult-ce in running well -4- if scult run i plan a test system an need help to port xrandr to genode / we have a few systems with different screens up to powerwalls for dispaching centers its a part of my phd phd program to partcipate with this system on a workpackage technical base - the is on the task list to run free / ghostbsd / netbsd / ubuntu-mate / debian / centos because we run on different systems different tasks - the traget is to port on the long run all the on top systems especialy the software tools as a genode port. - the scope on the long run is to integrat in our planed genode zfs (funktionality) openafs / openafs-osd / coda / lizard-fs in the core system / and use the servers then via clients from the different levels
we are not well trained on this issus and beg for guiding an step to step requests.

The T400 is a pre-Core-i platform using Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs and therefore is out of the range of well-tested devices. You could neverthelesse try to check the following BIOS settings and retry Sculpt CE.
Security -> Memory Protection -> Execution Prevention -> Enabled
If this feature is disabled the system intialization enters a reboot loop.
Config -> CPU -> Virtualization Technology -> Enabled Config -> CPU -> VT-d Feature -> Enabled
Unfortunately, I was also not lucky with a quick test on a dusty T400 from our recycling stack. So, I suggest you spare the time.

It's a pity that this does not work out-of-the-box as the X201 is a particularly suitable platform to start with: limited variations of models, support for virtualization and IOMMU. Could please check the following BIOS Options?
Config -> CPU -> Virtualization Technology -> Enabled Config -> CPU -> VT-d Feature -> Enabled Security -> Memory Protection -> Execution Prevention -> Enabled
With a X201 from our stock the Sculpt CE image works like a charm just a second ago.
