Sculpt USB Support

Currently, Sculpt doesn't show my USB flash drive nor accept input from my wireless mouse until a USB device is removed. When I remove one of the two USB devices, the other device starts working, and if I then plug the device back in, it starts working as well. I suspect this issue is due to a deficiency in Sculpt-specific code or configuration. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or can anyone else reproduce this bug?

VFS Stat modes should include FIFO to match Dirent types

Currently, the VFS Dirent types listed in repos/os/include/vfs/directory_service.h include FIFO, while the Stat modes do not. I'm writing a transparent link VFS plugin, so I'm using stat() for the Dirent information, so I need this feature in order to avoid losing information. I'm also writing a FIFO plugin, so I want it to accurately represent itself. The FreeBSD libc includes FIFO as S_IFIFO = 0010000. Until this is added, I'll add the constant to my own files, but I'd much rather have this included in vfs/directory_service.h.

I am attempting to add framebuffer support for the Wandboard Quad using the imx53 code as a base and modifying it as necessary. At this point I can build run/framebuffer with the seL4 kernel and I see no errors when I run the uImage on the wandboard Quad but I also don't get any HDMI ouput. I resolved the problem of the bootloader not providing the framebuffer information by hardcoding the framebuffer address, width, height, bpp, and pitch in the framebuffer.cc file. I have tracked down almost all of the addresses that needed to be modified but I am stuck on a couple things. In /os/src/drivers/platform/spec/imx53/ccm.h lines 82 and 83, what are these addresses? I can't find them anywhere in the imx53 device tree. write<Cscmr2>(0xa2b32f0b); write<Cdcdr>(0x14370092); In: ./os/src/drivers/platform/spec/imx53/iim.h line 27, ./os/src/drivers/framebuffer/spec/imx53/pwm.h line 22, and ./os/src/drivers/platform/spec/imx53/src.h line 30 I am unclear on the significance of the chosen register/bitfields and if they needs to be changed to match the imx6: struct Fuse_bank0_gp6 : Register<0x878, 32> {}; struct Ctrl_reg : Register<0x0, 32> struct Ipu_rst : Bitfield<3, 1> { }; Can anyone help with these? USB in Genode 18.08

I was very excited to see that the 18.08 release notes indicated that the USB driver is available for the Wandboard Quad. Unfortunately my testing has not been successful yet. We currently are supporting the Wandboard Quad (from Wandboard) and the SabreLite (from Boundary Devices). We are hoping to continue development targeting ARMv8a boards of interest; mainly the Raspberry Pi 3B and/or the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ ZCU102. This is obviously a work in progress with only the first step but we wished to share our documentation to the community for others to contribute and see what we are doing. tz_vmm demo on imx53-qsb using file system

Hello, I am working on TZ_VMM demo using I.MX53-QSB board and I want to implement my own secure APP. However, I wonder whether there is file system driver that I can use to read/write file on disk for I.MX53-QSB board. At the beginning , I was using VFS (e.g. include "file.tar" in my config file). But when the "file.tar" is getting too large (almost 100M), I met problems when booting the system. From http://genode.org/documentation/release-notes/14.05#Per-process_virtual_fil… I get to know the "file.tar" is build as a ROM module, so , I guess it's because the file are too large and there isn't enough memory to hold the file. Is it right? In general, I wonder how can I read/write file on disk in TZ_VMM demo. It will be great if you can give me any suggestions or helpful materials that I can refer to. bin/nic_drv no such directory in Genode 15.02

Hi, I am using network_test_nic run script to test nic driver. my command is *make run/network_test_nic* At the end I am getting message like : genode build completed *cp: cannot stat 'bin/nic_drv': No such file or directory* while executing and some error messages. I am using *Genode 15.02* and the platform is *hw_sabrelite_tz*. I have* enabled the dde_ipxe repository in build.config* and also I run the command *make prepare* in dde_ipxe, dde_linux, libports and ports in their respective directories. But still I am getting same error. Is anything to need implement for nic driver? or is there any problem in tool_chain, I am using tool_chain 14.11 for Genode 15.02. Regards, Prakash A M.Tech (CSE)

Compile C++ and C file together

Hello, I want to build a component which needs both C++ and C files, however, I encountered some problem when I compiling them together. Here's the error: libc.lib.so: undefined reference to `Libc::Component::construct(Libc::Env&)' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status For brief, in the C++ file (main.cc ), I would use a function in the C file , so I want to compile them together. In the main.cc file ,I add " extern "C" { # include cfile.h } " . In the cfile.h there exist the C function declaration ,let's say " fun() " , and I would use fun() in the main.cc. And in the target.mk, I set SRC_C = xx.c xxx.c (all the C files to be used ) and add LIBS+= libc to use C library which the fun() function would use. And I get the error message above, so my question is how can I compile the C++ and the C files together? Any help will be greatful, thanks in advance! ------------------ Best wishes

A Few Quick Thoughts On Sculpt VC

Hello, I'm afraid this won't be a very substantive message - I just have a couple of opinions and a question. First, about the new "Live Runtime View". I didn't know what to expect from Sculpt VC, but even given your history of thinking outside the box, this one surprised me. It is a very powerful and elegant idea that perfectly matches the rest of the system. I can't wait to see what comes next! Also, I like the changes to the "launcher" / "deploy" config. It's a nice, clean separation that makes it much easier for the user (and future GUI front-ends, I assume). Since there always seems to be a good reason for even the minor design decisions you make, I will pose this as a question rather than a request: Is there a reason why the Inspect window is not always open? I find it handy for working with the "in-memory config", even without using the storage devices. In the same vein, might I suggest a more "discoverable" way of switching between the Inspect window and the Live Runtime View? (Perhaps a button bar like the "Network" section of the Manager window.) In a nutshell, I continue to be impressed with the direction you've chosen. I am planning on getting a refurbished ThinkPad soon, and will try to migrate to Genode as a "daily driver"; hopefully then I can give more useful feedback. Thanks! -- John J.
