Hi, I tried to boot a basic setup to test the USB driver with acpi on top of NOVA. NOVA: remote revoke

Currently implicitly the current protection domain of the caller is used. With the extension the caller would have to specify explicitly the pd where the revoke operation should apply to. Genode core currently revokes all memory of the client pd subject to destruction. However core has no means to make sure that references to kernel objects are freed which creation has been issued by the client pd directly using the kernel syscalls. Additionally core can't make sure to revoke any mappings of memory, i/o ports and object capabilities which the client received via other channels (services/sessions provided not by core). The same issue also applies to NUL[0], where sigma0 can't clean up the object space of the vancouvers subject to destruction. With the remote revoke core and sigma0 in NUL would be able to make sure that all user level references inside a pd subject to destruction can be freed. Cheers, Alex. VMware / VirtualBox demo?

I've reached the end of my Linux skill set trying to get the Build environment working in a Ubuntu 11.04 environment. (In a VM) on my Windows 7 box. I really, REALLY want to get up to speed on Genode (as I see it as the ONLY effective stop for all this silly "cyberwar" stuff, thanks to it's native support of capability based security). USB HID driver fails to recognize input devices

Hi, I'm trying to get the latest Genode running (using the base platform NOVA on a real machine, not qemu). As a simple kick-off I tried to use the demo scenario with nitpicker and launchpad. However, with the USB Legacy support enabled, only the keyboard was working, the mouse could not be configured properly. Now that this machine doesn't have any real PS/2 connectors and the Legacy mode tends to be a bit quirky sometimes, I decided to go for the USB HID driver. But now the driver seems to only find several hubs and ports, but no devices attached to them. Plus, during the boot process, the mouse's LED gets switched off and is never turned on again. Is there some limitation regarding scanned USB ports and/or suitable devices? Or am I missing something else? I attached the log file of this boot process, but be warned that there seems to be some problem with serial output, as mainly in the beginning there are several weird broken lines in the log. IRQ handling

Hello. I try to implement touchscreen driver. I have resistive touchscreen and this touchscreen used GPIO pin for interrupt on tap. I try to extend my GPIO driver for this. I know how to handle IRQ in driver but I need to send this IRQ event from GPIO driver to touchscreen driver. How to do it? I see only polling from touchscreen driver. Or can I use other solution? -- Ivan Loskutov

Okay. Now I changed my rpc params to transferable types. I am using Rpc_in_buffer<> instead of std::string. I want to receive a feedback message from a server through an Rpc_in_buffer<> argument, but the client doesn't receive the results from the server correctly while working correclty with an character array. I should not use Rpc_in_buffer for a reply message from a server? So, please allow me to give some background information: * The RPC mechanism is just one basic synchronous communication mechanism. Therefore, it's suited for configuration interfaces and interfaces with simple parameters, i.e. C++ base or POD types. The mechanism is not inteded to support structured bulk traffic with complex serialization tasks. * The base mechanism used for RPC is the IPC mechanism of the base platform, which is usually limited with regard to the maximum message size. For Fiasco.OC, the limiting factor is the size of the UTCB. * Besides RPC, Genode also supports the packet-stream interface, which is a packet-based shared-memory mechanism (see os/include/os/packet_stream.h and os/include/packet_stream_rx/tx). The packet stream is well suited for bulk traffic and also supports asynchronous operation. With this background, we could revisit your usage scenario and come up with an approach that fits best. OMAP4 framebuffer

Hello. I try to extend OMAP4 frame-buffer driver for using with LCD. Your HDMI example does not work. I try to read OMAP DSS registers and receive strange values, for example: value DSS_REVISION is 0x02100004, other DSS and DISPC registers has similar values. What version u-boot do you use on pandaboard? Maybe part of the initialization is performed in u-boot. -- Ivan Loskutov

Hi, I need to use parameters of std::vector<std::string> type for my RPC program, but it doesn't seem to work. (I want to define a RPC function passing varible number of strings as a parameter. The number of strings is very flexible.) I read about the transferable argument types from the 11.05 release notes. error with using %lld in Genode::printf or sprintf and including sstream

Hi, I have two problems with compiling my program. One is that I cannot get correct output with Genode::printf or sprintf for (unsigend) long long values.
