compiling Sculpt

Hello everyone, Is it possible to compile Sculpt using kernel=Linux board=pc ? I am getting this error: checking configuration syntax CHECK init generating initrd cp: cannot stat 'genode/initramfs': No such file or directory while executing "exec cp genode/initramfs init" (procedure "build_initrd" line 16)

vm launcher config for usb devices rom?

I'm making a vm launcher file; what do I put in there to make the ... ROM (usb devices) -> usb devices rom ... connection noted in https://genodians.org/jschlatow/2022-10-27-fresh-vm-on-sculpt ? I can't configure it with the GUI because the vertical resolution on this ThinkPad T430 is only 900 pixels and the vm config menu is too tall. Hi Dan, I got pass this error by pasting hard disk UUID in to different locations , at the very top and at the very bottom. Now I am getting the vbox6 windows to come up but with a message: FATAL: No bootable medium Found! System halted. I tried changing the storage controller from SATA to IDE but I get the same message. The installer.iso is in the /vm directory. I need help

fec_nic_drv no packet ever send on imx8mm

Dear Genodians, I am updating our reference branch to the 22.11 tag for the genode repository and respective references for the genode-world and genode-imx repositories. I am facing an issue with the 'fec_nic_drv' on imx8mm_iot_gate, an "arm_v8a" based board. The driver connects successfully to the "nic_router" uplink session. But no DHCP request is ever received by the DHCP server running on my host. Furthermore, inspecting with Wireshark, no packet is ever sent by the device after the TFTP transmission. After some debugging, I concluded that the driver received a packet to send via the packet stream interface from the "nic router". It is successfully inserted into the driver's tx queue. Finally, I could identify in the mnt_reform2_linux code base "drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/fec_main.c" the function `fec_enet_tx_queue` that seems to process the skb buffer. I would be pleased if someone has been down that path already and could point me out some hints. Unfortunately, there are no warnings or errors that light up. I have attached logs containing some debug messages. Please ignore the missing "report_rom" errors. May I be overlooking something or not looking at the right place? memcpy_cpu on 64bit arm

Hello, Is there any particular reason why it is empty? My rect copy to fb in riscos uses neon. It is a speed gain of about 40% compared to word/long word copy from c. But I don't know how much it affects Genode. It seems like it ends up in /* eight bytes chunks */ but isn't that a byte copy? I have the feeling that in my case, with blit,mem copy without crop is faster than doing it with crop every time. Ram, accesses are proved to be very fast on this hardware. The extra cycles for cropping might be a bottleneck. Combined with a neon run through , testing and copying without leaving routine could probably make a big performance gain. But. I am happy, as always, to be proved wrong! Michael

Hi Colin, I think I found what my problem was, I was not using the right hardware. Now that I am booting from an old 4th generation Intel laptop , the display shows all the settings I need to set up the VM, which interesting enough was shown on > files > config > managed > deploy , where I would of made the same changes , I think

Hi Colin, I am getting confuse here, I am not staring Sculpt from qemu or anyother VM, I am starting Sculpt With the already made pre-compile version from genode web site with real hardware. I have try to compile a Sculpt version to see if this will work and I noticed that this way did not try to open a qemu window, after it finish compiling, it only gave me an .img file that I still can’t boot up in my real hardware. But this is another problem, I just want to be able to set up genode WM with the pre-compile image that is running now. I can’t finish setting all the options for the genode’s VM , maybe I will try to do this set up manually and not thru a gui?
