AHCI Doesn't Work

I have tested the run script run/ahci (os/run/ahci) on both foc-x86_64 and fiasco-x86. It doesn't work on either platform. In the "Limitations and Known Issues" section of the README, it does mention that it won't work properly on real hardware or on Fiasco.OC, but it also doesn't work on Fiasco in qemu. I would very much like AHCI to work on Fiasco.OC on real hardware. Can someone who understands the problems fix it? (Or teach me enough so I can fix it; note that all my experience with Genode is in configuration, not actual programming, and that I'm not familiar with OS development.)

Segmentation fault in ld.lib.so when using gzread

Hey everyone, I'm using some 3rd party code that depends on zlib. In particular, it uses gzread() in order to read a file. Unfortunately, the corresponding piece of code causes a segfault in ld.lib.so. I narrowed this down to the following minimum example: gzFile gzfile_components = gzopen("test.txt", "rb"); unsigned char buffer[1024*1024]; gzread(gzfile_components, buffer, sizeof(buffer)); As you can see, the buffer is quite large but this the actual (and reasonable) value used in the 3rd party code. As soon as I reduce the size to e.g. 4096, the segfault is gone. The file I used has a size of 293 bytes. I'm using base-linux. I also remember using this code successfully on a different computer with an older version of Genode (14.03). Any ideas/comments on this?

L4Linux on x86_64

It seems that L4Linux expects either x86_32 or arm. Would it work to compile the x86_32 version on x86_64? If not, why? What level of multiarch support does Genode have?

File Manager

What level of file management does Genode have? Is there a graphical file manager available? Does noux support file management? Also, since I am considering implementing a file manager if one doesn't already exist, how would I do it? I'm thinking of porting PCManFM to Genode, so how does the filesystem work? (Does it have a single root directory like Linux, or does it just give you access to each filesystem like in Windows?)

Multiple Library and Binary Directories

I have been looking through the Genode run scripts, and it seems that init will only look in the root of a ROM for both libraries and binaries. It would be very useful to be able to search for binaries and libraries in multiple directories (e.g. /lib, /usr/lib, /bin, /usr/bin, etc.) Also, is there a way to separate the library and binary directories without hacking init? If not, how hard would it be to hack init to add this feature?

Windowed Terminal

I created a windowed terminal run script. It uses the cli_monitor server (used in terminal_mux.run) in a windowed nit_fb, and it works, except I can't switch between terminals like I can in terminul_mux using Ctrl+X. How can I add this functionality? I've attached the run script for you to look at.

Query: Two OS

Hi everyone, I am Franc, new to Genode, At the starting stage, I am interested in exploring trustzone demo showed in the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=voFV1W4yyY8 So, I have some query related to this, As we can run two OS in both world, Genode in the secure world and other OS in the normal world, so OS running in the normal world should have different configuration from Normal bootable image or not on a particular Board ? if we have to modify the OS image to run in the normal world then what all are the changes we have to do in that ? cheers !! It seems that Genode lacks ext4 support. Is there any intention to port an ext4 driver to Genode? How hard would this task be?

Full Genode Install

I want to install Genode with all the possible components as a mini operating system. It seems ready or almost ready for this, and making a full Genode system (noux, l4linux, arora, etc.) available to run from a cd or a hard drive would make the operating system framework attract a lot more interest. After this, it may be a good idea to create a Debian Genode port (Debian GNU/Genode). Basically, I am interested in Genode and would probably try to port some software to it if I could install it on my computer as a cohesive whole, and there are probably others like me.
