Hashing on ARM platform

Hi everyone, I need cryptographic (hashing, at first) functions on my ARM platform (i.MX53 QSB). I found out that genode includes a portation of libcrpyto, but not for ARM: Skip library libcrypto because it requires x86 (btw: this message is not easy no spot, it should be highlighted, i think ;) ) The file libports/lib/mk/libcrypto.mk says: # # ARM is not supported currently (needs testing) # REQUIRES = x86 Commenting out that requirement leads to linking errors like: Library libcrypto MERGE libcrypto.lib.so /usr/local/genode-gcc/bin/genode-arm-ld: cannot find aes/aes_cbc.o: No such file or directory ... ... recipe for target 'libcrypto.lib.so' failed What would be the steps to port libcrypto for ARM? OR Is genode capable of creating hashsums natively? Regards David

Enabling the libc_fs plugin

Hello Norman, We are trying to enable the rump kernel in Genode. However, we are facing a problem with libc_fs. We are able to locate it in the codebase, but it is not getting included for some reason. Is there any way to enable libc_fs? Thanks, -- Best regards, Swaminathan Ramesh

Para-virtualization support for ARM on Genode

Hi We are able to run Genode-14.08 on i.MX6 board. Now I am planning to add support for virtualization for Genode on i.MX6. As the processor is Cortex-A9, it does not have virtualization extensions. So I am planning to implement a hypervisor to run para-virtualized linux, similar to the one proposed in the following paper, http://systems.cs.columbia.edu/archive/pub/2014/03/kvm-arm-the-design-and-i… I am not sure that would work for ARMv7 as they have only tested for ARMv5. Can you suggest any other para-virtualization solutions preferred for the implementation of Genode. I saw L4Linux but it is a port of linux to L4Re and not to the kernel itself. On the other hand, SierraVisor and Xen are bare metal hypervisors. The road map for Genode 14.11 says virtualization support for Cortex-A7. I assume you will be using virtualization extensions and not a para-virtualization solution. Can you suggest which is the best place to start. Should I implement a VMM similar to tz_vmm server or should it be implemented in base-hw as VMM should be in supevisor mode and not user mode. trustzone and application

Hi I use the tz_vmm example and can run Genode in the secure world and Linux in the normal world on i.mx53 qsb in parallel. And i can also run an application in the secure side (on top of Genode) using the tz_vmm script. I want to run a program in the normal world(Linux) and the program should get access to a service or data from an application running in secure world (Genode). How can applications in different worlds interact among themselves? thank you in advance regards, Abhay

ambiguous services of children

Hi all, in my setup, i have a parent process with multiple children with IDs, lets say the are named child_1 to child_3. the parent recievces messages with an ID and should forward it to the child with the corresponding ID. Therefore all children announce the same service, lets say "child_communcation", to the parent. In order to avoid ambiguities, the parent process would have to reconfigure its route every time a message arrives. that means if message with ID 3 arrives, the route for the service "child_communication" must lead to child_3. this solution seems odd to me, am i missing a mechanism in genode that allows a parent to communicate with its children directly, when they all announced the same service? regards David

Network example in Raspberry Pi

Hi Norman, Hi All As feed back of my previous effort, i can tell you that i was able to bring IPsec to the LWIP stack and test it with manual configuration and it is work well . Now i would like to test that in RPi , but actually I faild even to run the Demo example by using the release 14.08 of Genode. later, I tried with the release 13.11 and it is working smoothly. Now i would like to test the network example ( libports/run/lwip.run) i tried to run it but i get make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mohammad/genode-13.11/build.rpi' cp: cannot stat `bin/nic_drv': No such file or directory any one was able to run this test successfully before ? if not , any advices or suggestions to help me to do it . best, Mohammad

Genode onto i.mx53 qsb

Hello, I'm trying to port genode onto i.mx53 quick start board. I followed the building steps in this thread. http://sourceforge.net/p/genode/mailman/genode-main/thread/9167aa55bacd5e3f… Now i get *uImage* in in the building directory(var/run/tz_vmm) with other two files (*boot_modules.s* and *image.elf*). The size of *uImage* is 7.5MB I loaded the *uImage* to memory address 0x70800000. When I tried to boot with the same memory address (bootm 0x70800000), i get the following error. ## Booting kernel from Legacy Image at 70800000 ... I tried again with another memory address (0x78000000) if there was overlap. Still I get the same result. I also checked if there is overlap with the physical address ranges used by u-boot bootloader using *readelf*.
