i.mx53 NIC driver

Hi, Genode experts Currently I'm working with the TrustZone VMM example from Genode based on Genode 16.05 on i.MX53 QSB. And I want to move NIC device driver from normal world to secure world. To achieve this, 1. Change FEC setting of <CSU.h> to SECURE. (original configuration of FEC is UNSECURE.) However, data abort is occured during boot on imx53 qsb. TRACE confusion

Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused by the trace_session and its implementation: The documentation suggests that the trace buffer is assigned to a thread. On the other hand, the trace subject is associated with a session label. What I conclude from this is that a thread be identified by multiple trace subjects but can only be assigned a single trace policy and trace buffer, which makes the interface quite confusing. I also had a glance at the implementation and noticed that the Trace::Subject has its own buffer, which is forwarded to the Trace::Source. If I understand this correctly, the Trace::Source is coupled to a thread. I therefore assume that I can only trace one trace subject (associated with the same thread) at a time. Is this correct? Thank you Josef, I checked github and found the problem. I forked my own genode repository (pulled from genodelab's) on github and synchronized with it. However something wrong must had happened as both files were missing in my repository. I'm working on that now. Thank you. If you are indeed using 16.05 than your sources seem to be incomplete and I recommend that you do a clean git checkout or extract the archive afresh. Header files have changed?

Hello all,I am following genode 16.05 tutorials on ubuntu 16.04 lts. I set up my tests according to chapter 2.5 in corresponding manual (16.05) and http://genode.org/documentation/developer-resources/client_server_tutorial. However when I tried to compile the apps, I got errors saying "base/component.h" and "base/log.h" were not found. I searched the sub-directories of genode project and had no luck. After digging I thought I could use base/printf.h instead of log.h. But what is the alternative of base/component.h? Any help is appreciated.Thanks,Quin

Build issue..."Not a git repository"

Hi, I started getting build warning message about repository not found, as you can see below. This occurred shortly after I did a make prepare for libc and libm from libports on my 16.05 build. I'm building from the BUILD_DIR directory. l4android not accessing android image from disk

l4linux update problem

Hi, all Recently, I was trying to update the l4linux to version 3.10, and the FOC kernel has also been updated to rev58 accordingly. Now, l4linux3.10 can run well if I not set CONFIG_SMP. Light-SPD: A Platform to Prototype Secure Mobile Applications

Hello, apparently just a few days ago, the following work was presented at the Workshop on Privacy-Aware Mobile Computing (PAMCO'16) hosted at MobiHoc 2016 [1]: "Light-SPD: A Platform to Prototype Secure Mobile Applications" by Sileshi Demesie Yalew, Gerald Q. Maguire Jr., Miguel Correia The paper describes a secure mobile payment platform built upon Genode's TrustZone support on the FreeScale i.MX53 SoC. Disclaimer: I was unaware of this work until yesterday and haven't thoroughly studied the paper yet. It is great to see Genode being picked up for projects like this! Overview of the Genode community

Hello everyone, during a conversation with Johannes Schlatow a few months ago, he proposed to add an overview of the Genode community at the genode.org website. By providing an overview of active contributors, the various groups and individuals may get a better chance to get acquainted with each other, avoid duplicate efforts, or even team up. By presenting links to projects using Genode, we may make the project more tangible to people who are wondering about the application of Genode in the real world. I have now attempted to create a rough sketch of such an overview as a topic branch at GitHub [1]. I plan to host this overview at the Genode website as a sub section of the "Community" tab. Now, my questions are: 1) Do you find the structure sensible? Or do you have an alternative suggestion to organize this information? 2) What is an appropriate level of detail? I have added a paragraph here and there. Should we give each individual a bit of room to add custom information or is a raw list of links to GitHub accounts, blogs, or project websites sufficient? 3) Most importantly: Do you find you or your project missing? Incremental checkpointing of components

Dear Genode-main readers, I am working on my thesis to implement a real-time capable checkpoint/restore mechanism in Genode/L4-Fiasco.OC on the Chair of Operating Systems, TUM Department of Informatics. A checkpoint-component A has to transparently (more or less) store the internal state of another component B and restore it on another machine also running Genode. One aspect of the thesis is to store the (virtual) memory pages of B only if they were changed since the last checkpoint (known as "incremental checkpointing"). This means, I have to mark a page if it was used by a write access and unmark it after the checkpoint. This approach is similar to the dirty-bit mechanism in the MMU. By searching the genode-main mailing list I found an idea for emulating the dirty-bit mechanism. In the message [1], the author suggests the use of managed dataspaces and a custom RAM service. The RAM server detaches a dataspace which a client is using, re-attaches and marks the dataspace when the client wants to read it or write to it. Thus, the server of the RAM service notices whenever a client uses a specific dataspace. I want to be notified when a virtual memory page is changed and store only this page. But using one RM session per 4 KiB dataspace (typical page size) is not efficient, because an RM session uses 64 KiB for itself. * Do I understand this approach correctly? * Is there another way to be notified when a virtual memory page is accessed? * If not, is it possible to extend the core with this mechanism.
