[TZ_VMM] - libpng on the i.MX53 QSB

Hi, I've been trying to use libpng inside the secure world of i.MX53 QSB TrustZone aware TZ_VMM example. I want to receive an image from the normal world (running Linux) and do some process the image in some way inside the secure world. I understand the flow of genode and tz_vmm in particular and there are some examples on how to communicate data between the normal and secure world, so that's not my problem right now. My problem is that I cannot run tz_vmm after adding libpng as a lib. In order to use libpng inside tz_vmm I did the following: 1) in $(BUILDDIR)/etc/build.conf uncommented this line REPOSITORIES += $(GENODE_DIR)/repos/libports 2) inside $(GENODE_DIR)/repos/libports I did: make prepare PKG="libc zlib libpng" 3) inside $(BUILDDIR)/repos/os/src/server/tz_vmm/spec/imx53 I added the following to target.inc LIBS += libc LIBS += zlib LIBS += libpng 4) then I added #include <png.h> inside main.cc 5) finally inside $(BUILDDIR) I did make run/tz_vmm All these steps compiled fine, but when I run this on my board the following message comes up: ## Booting kernel from Legacy Image at 70200000 ... SABRE tablet demo: compilation error on Ubuntu 14.04

Hi, I am trying to build the demo https://github.com/skalk/genode/blob/i.MX53_tablet_demo/os/src/server/vmm/i… for the SABRE tablet. In the final step of building the demo: ! make run/vmm I encounter the following errors. I have run "make prepare" in the genode/libports directory, as suggested by https://sourceforge.net/p/genode/mailman/message/32241606/. I am using Ubuntu 14.04. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks! [TZ_VMM] - i.MX53 QSB

Hi, I have an i.MX53 QSB development board and I want to experiment with ARM TrustZone. I'm a beginner with regards to genode and kernel development in general. I was able to run tz_vmm on the QSB and interact with the linux which runs in normal world. What I want to do next is a fairly simple system where inside linux I can call an SMC and switch to the secure world, then whilst in secure world print something (like "Hello From Secure World" and also print some argument from the normal world) and then go back to linux. I have read some of the messages in the mailing list and I noticed some of you (other mailing list subscribers) already achieved similar communication protocols but because I'm new to genode I don't know where to start. I know I probably have to create a kernel module for the linux running in normal world so I can call SMC from a userspace application, but I don't know how to do that since I don't see where the linux is being compiled for genode [1]. Do I have to compile another linux? How do I incorporate this new linux version to work with genode? Besides this I also don't know where to start modifying tz_vmm in order to achieve my goals. I know where tz_vmm's code is but I don't know where to start changing it. I have also seen some mailing list questions regarding the world switch from secure world to normal world. It seems that from normal to secure you should call an SMC, but from secure to normal the monitor mode implementation cannot handle entries from the secure world and thus no SMC can be called directly [2]. Can you give my some feedback on how to achieve these things on the i.MX53 QSB? [IPU] - Framebuffer Driver on the i.MX53 QSB

Hi, I want to build a system based on the TZ_VMM example where a user space Linux application can trigger a SMC. This SMC will tell the secure world to display an image (and then return to the normal world after some time or after the user explicitly triggers another world switch). For now I want to start by using Linux on the Normal World, but I want to eventually run Android in the Normal World. The question which made me come to the mailing list is the following: in your article regarding TrustZone [1], section "Additional device drivers", you write that in order to run Android at almost-native performance in the normal world you used hardware overlays and that you invested significant development time into enabling this feature on the QSB. Does this mean you have a working framebuffer driver for the i.MX53 QSB as well as a working example on how to use hardware overlays on this platform? If so I would like to know where can I get the mentioned framebuffer driver as well as the hardware overlay example. 16.05 printf test does not build for Cortex A9.

The central aspect of the current release is the fundamental renovation of our base API. The API gradually evolved over the years since 2006 while we gained a wealth of experience with a wide range of usage scenarios and their requirements. We eventually realized that the need for fundamental changes to greatly increase robustness and flexibility can no longer be ignored. Therefore, this release brings new API functions reflecting our current knowledge about how a secure, low-complexity C++ OS framework should look like and, on the other hand, deprecates a wide range of interfaces that will be removed in future versions. About GPU support on ARM platforms

Hi Genode community I'm working with Exynos4 and RPi, both ARM platforms. I'm interested to use the GPU on both platforms to enconde/decode video. Is somebody working on ARM GPU drivers, or have worked on it? I'm using basically FiascoOC as microkernel, but if i use Linux as base kernel, how i can use the linux device driver through GenodeOS? So that the applications developed have a minimum kernel dependencies, allowing later the replacement of the linux kernel by FiascoOC microkernel, when the device driver is implemented. x86 Genode missing modules

I have built Genode with the Nova microkernel and am able to get my grub2 to boot to the build, however it appears that there are two modules missing from the compile I was able to build - bootloader and pci_drv. Without these modules, the hypervisor boots but gets hung at displaying the processor information, never a command prompt. Is there something in the compile I need to set to get these two modules to compile with the rest of Genode? -- Thanks, Chris

[genode-main] network implementation example (for Parallella Board)

Hello, I am a beginner in operating system level programming and a novice in the use of Genode OS. I use Genode OS Framework 15.11 from the sourceforge download. I have carried out successfully the hello world introduction from the 15.05 manual (Chapter 2.5) and the hello tutorial from the homepage, but now I am stuck. Scenario: I have a (non-genode) server (runs in another terminal) which sents UDP packets. These UDP packets I would like to register within my program at Genode OS (hw_zync) on a qemu-emulated Parallella Board. For the Parallella Board the Genodes so called base-hw platform is to be used. I already know that there are network drivers within dde_ipxe and that within the repository "os" under "net" and "nic" exists header files (e.g ethernet.h, udp.h). Furthermore, I know that I need to include the IP address within the run files somehow. I also can not find (not even with "find") the file <lwip/sockets.h>, which is referrenced in some files (like ). I do not know how I can achieve my implementation using this found information. How can I access the network interface of Parallella Board? How do I register UDP packets for further processing? Has anyone in this regard already functioning implementation examples which help me understand my desired realization. with regards, Jerome
