Bender cannot relocate

When I try to run arora on Genode (tried with both nova and hw) in Qemu, even with plenty of ram (-ram 4096), I run into the following error: spawn qemu-system-x86_64 -machine type=pc,accel=kvm -display sdl -cpu core2duo -vga cirrus -net nic,model=e1000 -net user -serial mon:stdio -cdrom var/run/arora.iso warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:EDX.ss [bit 27] Bender: Hello World. Modules might overlap. Relocate to f40000, but module at 00226000-072a0b17. Cannot relocate. phdr 200000+1e70 overlaps with module 201000-225078 200d+25'/hypervisor iommu serial novpid novga' Exit with status 1. Rebooting... I haven't tested x86_32, given how long it takes to compile Qt, so I don't know whether the issue is just for x86_64 or for all x86. Any ideas on what's going wrong and how to fix it?

File Manager

I've updated and simplified my file manager. It's incomplete, but it should still work. Feel free to give it a try. Any help would be appreciated. Unable to use csu_config.h to secure GPIO access from normal world

Hello I am using genode trustzone code on imx53 board. AFAIU, following lines in csu_config.h are supposed to regulate the access from normal world: ``` namespace Csu_config { enum { SECURE_GPIO = 1, SECURE_ESDHC = 0, SECURE_UART = 0, SECURE_I2C = 1, }; }; ``` Though GPIO is set secure, I am still able to set direction and value of gpios from the linux running in normal world, on top of tz_vmm running in secure world. Should it not raise some exception? Where am I going wrong? Thanks Abhishek

VFS documentation

I've been modifying my file manager to use the VFS library as its backend, but I'm not entirely sure how to use properly, and I haven't found much documentation on how to use it (especially how to write to files) asynchronously. Could someone please explain this, and ideally add it to the official documentation as well?

Depot Packages

The new depot packaging system is great, but the current set of available packages is rather limited, especially when it comes to binary packages. I'd like this to change, and I'd be happy to be involved, but I don't know what to do, so could someone please answer the following questions: Are there plans to provide a complete set of pre-built packages (including for x86_64) to the online repo? How do I make my own repo publicly available? I have built most of the packages myself, and have published them locally, but I need to upload them. Can I get my own packages hosted on depot.genode.org,? If not, can you suggest where else I should publish them? How should I go about writing depot recipes for various ports (e.g. qt5)?

Genode OS Framework version 17.05 released

We just released the version 17.05 of the Genode OS Framework. According to our road map, this version is designated as a suitable basis for development branches to be maintained over a longer period of time. With this goal in mind, the release cycle was focused on wrapping up our great API renovation that we started of year ago, and on updating fundamental parts of the framework that we want to keep stable in the foreseeable future. Data-abort exception while trying to boot skalk/linux imx-53 branch with genode trustzone

Hello I am trying to run linux in normal world on genode trustzone. I have changed the run-script of genode to copy the uImage generated from skalk/linux's imx-53 branch instead of downloading (default). Cpu_Thread_Component quota exceeded

Hi, we tried to extend the cpu_thread_component with some more members to get more information about the Threads. The Problem is that we get an "quota exceeded" error followed by an Out_of_memory Exception. After increasing the quota of the Cpu_thread_allocator to e.g. 2048 the Problem was gone. typedef Tslab<Cpu_thread_component, 2048> Cpu_thread_allocator; So the question is: Is there any reason why the Cpu_thread_allocator gets exactly 1024 Byte, or can we just increase the quota according to our needs? Tool chain instructions

Hi, with the new toolchain, the compression has changed from bzip2 to xz. The toolchain instructions [1] still state to use > sudo tar xPfj genode-toolchain-<version>-<arch>.tar.bz2 This doesn't work anymore as `-j` requires bzip2 and fails with the following error: > bzip2: (stdin) is not a bzip2 file. > tar: Child returned status 2 > tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now A fix would be omitting `-j`, resulting in > sudo tar xPf genode-toolchain-<version>-<arch>.tar.xz This is also safe since current versions of tar extract bzip2 without the usage of `-j`.
