Creating your first Genode application - Build succesful, but execution fails

Hello, I tried to run the genode tutorial. I first installed it on an AMD Athlon x64 with nForce4- Mainboard. run/demo stopped there after init -> nitpicker] create session with args: label="launchpad", ram_quota=12288 I made a second try on a) a virtualBox machine with brand new installation of Unbuntu 12.04 x64 (git) and b) an old Evo N610c Pentium 4 with Ubuntu 12.04 x86 (14.02 from tar.gz of latest releases) I think a few Steps are missing within the Step-By-Step tutorial http://genode.org/documentation/developer-resources/client_server_tutorial As a prestep for “Setting up the build environment” i created a new build directory with './tool/create_builddir linux_x86 BUILD_DIR=build.hello'. As i did not have a lot of files in it, I tried a first ‘make’. In build/etc/build.conf I added REPOSITORIES += $(GENODE_DIR)/hello_testIn the bin directory i created a new config directory with config file. The server section seems to have only one .h file, I put the three listings in one main.cc file (as later in the document it is mentioned that in target.mk SCR_CC = main.cc an obviously no includes to the other files are given). Afterwards i tried ‘make hello’ which returned no error. Using Lwip with fdopen

Some error in using Qt on genode

Hello, I just want to development Qt application on Genode. However I am new to Qt. I do not know how to use Qt on Genode. I found there are some example Qt applications on genode-13.08/libports/src/qt5. Linux Rump Kernel for Genode?

Hello to those dwelling on on planet Genodia Genode's use of the NetBSD rump Kernel driver<http://genode.org/documentation/release-notes/14.02#NetBSD_file_systems_usi…> seems like it's a real win.. Is there a chance the Genode OS might do the same kind of thing with a "Linux rump kernel" to also support up to date device driver code that is know to work with the latest Linux systems? .... My hunch is it could be a big win! All the best -Peter

MMIO classes

Hello, This doubt is more C++ than Genode. The MMIO framework is brilliant for R/W access. The way it goes is that, I create structures and successively inherit Register and Bitfield structures. But would it be wrong if I create an object of the structures and call 'write' and 'read' methods? Say, struct Register_New : Register<0x4a, 32> { }; and struct Register_New ob; write<ob>(0x5); The above is just an example. What is normally done is write<Register_New>(0x5). The template in the Mmio class if of Register::Register_base type. But an object to this struct is also Register. So, is there any negative aspect to this? What I am currently trying out is trying to hold an array of Registers that has such objects for some level of automation. And I don't think Register_array is what I'd look for. porting from i.MX53 to i.MX6

Hello, I am trying to porte a system using a rich environment and a TEE from i.MX53 to i.MX6. This system uses genode and TrustZone. I think genode start well but it stops after the decompression of Linux. I have tried different tricks found on the web but nothing works. Can you help me ? Next Release estimates?

Greetings all, I was just wondering if there was an estimate on when the next release might happen as I am looking forward to seeing it as well as wondering if the current VirtualBox implementation in Genode will have been improved with networking and perhaps a local filesystem (for physical CDROM access or VDI acsess) so that you do not have to compile the guest OS ISO's into a Genode-NOVA-VB ISO to boot? Open vSwitch possible use, thoughts

Greetings All, I hope that everyone is doing well today. Currently, I am working my way through NOVA+Genode+VirtualBox with good success thus far, but still a long ways to go as I would like to implement the Sigma0 and Tutor (from the old NOVA 0.3 Demo) under Genode in the Nitpicker GUI. While being able to boot the VirtualBox VMM and also knowing that networking is still under development, I searched around and came a cross, what I think might be a "possible" good solution. I found Open vSwitch (http://openvswitch.org/) and wanted to see what your thought were on this as it might be a good solution to allow for multiple VirtualBox VM's to be running under NOVA & Genode.
