Hello Sculpt users,
we entered the testing phase for the upcoming Sculpt 24.04 release.
Before the final release, we like to invite early adopters to give our alpha versions a try and report back experiences (or issues) with their use cases.
The alpha1 image can be downloaded from the following URLs.

During the alpha phase, test versions can be retrieved via the "System -> Update" dialog in entry https://depot.genode.org/chelmuth_test of the Sculpt installation.
Happy Sculpting
Christian
Hello everybody,
I published an updated alpha2 image that can be downloaded from the following URLs or installed via the Sculpt "System -> Update" dialog.

This version brings some additions and addresses the following glitches.
- Support for very long lines in "Files" editor - Leitzentrale keyboard focus handling improvements - recall_fs in "[+] -> Options" - Fix USB-VM passthrough of some devices (PL2303 serial) on older machines - Probe PS/2 controller before use (prevents infinite loops) - Falkon web browser preset tweaks

I started the 2024-04-17 release on my Lenovo T460s. The first thing I did give a try was the Falcon browser preset. While running this scenario there are a lot of the two messages: - [... -> falcon] Error: fcntl(): command 0xc not supported - vfs - [... -> mixer] Warning: Play (falkon... -> left) jitter of XX ms is higher than expected.
- The first message appears even before I start playback.
- The second I tried to mitigate by increasing the jitter values in /condig/managed/runtime but this didn't help.
Unfortunately I do not get any output on the headphones.
I never had tested audio on this device with previous releases.
If you do want the full log, I did copy it to de side and can seid it to you if needed.
Regards, Pirmin
Hello Pirmin,
Unfortunately I do not get any output on the headphones.
I never had tested audio on this device with previous releases.
You can enable reporting in the audio launcher by setting the 'report_mixer' attribute (the launcher currently contains the wrong attribute) and watch the '/report/runtime/audio/mixer_state' report while (un-)plugging your headphones.
We already had to add quirks for other systems in the past to the driver where it did not identify the widgets properly. That could be the case here as well.

This version brings some additions and addresses the following glitches.
- Power options (suspend, reset, power off) in System menu Note, suspend-resume is an experimental feature. - Restore heartbeat watchdog for intel_fb - Fix dbg_download (used for on-target debugging) - Prevent "fcntl(): command 0xc not supported" diagnostic messages
