Running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop (x64).
In addition to the packages mentioned at http://genode.org/documentation/developer-resources/getting_started I also had to apt-get install the following packages to build certain ports and/or kernels:
autoconf2.64 autogen bison flex g++ git gperf libxml2-utils subversion xsltproc
