A fresh release was just released and covers several challenging topics while accomplishing the goals set forth in our roadmap. The most prominent new feature is the support for WireGuard virtual private networks in a dedicated native Genode component. Thereby, easy-to-use state-of-the-art network security becomes available to Genode/Sculpt OS users.
Further, we finished our update of PC device drivers to Linux 5.14.21. This includes Intel graphics support up to Gen12 as well as Intel Wi-Fi for 802.11ax. Also, Genode attains the principle ability for voice calls on the PinePhone. Last but not least, the release comes with a revised tracing framework incl. Sculpt OS support and dynamic FPGA device management on Xilinx Zynq paving the way to runtime hardware reconfiguration by a snap of your fingers ;-)
The topics of the current release are:
- New WireGuard VPN component - New generation of DDE-Linux-based PC drivers - Feature-complete USB host-controller driver - Intel wireless stack with support for 802.11ax - Intel display driver supporting generations 11 and 12 - Modernized platform driver for PC hardware - Dynamic device management and SD-card support on Xilinx Zynq - PinePhone with custom SCP firmware and basic telephony - New revisions of Genode Foundations and Platforms documents - Improved usability of light-weight event tracing
