Hello everyone,
we just published the third official version of Sculpt OS:
https://genode.org/download/sculpt
This version - called Sculpt with Visual Composition (VC) - introduces a novel graphical user interface for the interactive deployment of subsystems. For the first time, Sculpt can be explored without editing any text files. Furthermore, the new version increases the compatibility with modern hardware thanks to the vast device-driver improvements of Genode 18.08.
Sculpt VC is available as ready-to-use disk image and is accompanied with updated documentation:
https://genode.org/documentation/articles/sculpt-vc
I wish you a lot of fun with exploring the new version!
Cheers Norman
Hello,
congratulations on this release! It looks great so far. I can even report that the image successfully boots on my XPS15. Now only network connectivity stands between me and making Genode my daily driver. Is there an easy way to make sculpt use a USB nic until I get the WIFI driver running?
Cheers Hinnerk

There are two USB networking options currently: CDC ethernet with RNDIS and ASIX AX88179/178A Gigabit ethernet dongles. Both can be enabled with the <nic/> config node of usb_drv.

Hello Christian,
I think I should have a CDC Ethernet dongle somewhere. I'll search for it and try my luck. Thank you for the info!

Hi Hinnerk,
the RNDIS driver should also allow you to use WiFi (or mobile data) through the USB tethering functionality of an Android phone.
Cheers, Alex
