Hello John,
The only thing that didn't work for me (as Pirmin Duss already mentioned) was that I didn't get any audio output for the web browser, although I did hear a popping noise when enabling the Audio component, so something is working there. (I haven't tried any other audio playback yet.)
Like Pirmin, you could look at the audio driver's 'mixer_state' report, the actual mixer's report '/report/runtime/mixer/state' and look for any mentioning of 'azalia0: codecs: …' in the Sculpt LOG. Note that restarting the driver might render it unusable (e.g., you will not hear anything) until you reset your system.
I also published a current version of my 'cmus' pkg for 24.04 that you could use for testing and there is also Alexander's 'firefox@seoul' pkg that features audio support as well.
Thanks, Josef! It looks like your point about restarting the driver was the problem. Once I ensured the driver was only started once (i.e. choosing the Preset before enabling the Audio option), the Firefox VM worked! (I haven't tried "cmus" yet, but I will.)
It looks like this release has everything I need, so I am going to try to fulfill my multi-year dream of switching to Sculpt as my daily driver, using this version. Everything I do is in various VMs, so all I should need to do is configure those. The real fun then begins, with gradually migrating the functions out of the VMs and into native Sculpt!
Happy Sculpting!
