Hi John,
thanks for chiming in! As always, your feedback is highly encouraging.
- Keep tinkering with IDE integration, for Goa and general development.
(There are some interesting possibilities here.)
That's very good because this area is otherwise pretty much neglected so far.
Given all that, the only thing I might ask of the Genode team is more documentation on the Native APIs. I'll be exploring the examples, but I need all the help I can get. :^)
At the current time, the native APIs solely serve the purpose of Genode and Sculpt, but are not geared for a wider adoption by application software built atop.
This distinction is important. To illustrate the fine line, the dialog API does not even try to address multi-language support. This is fine for the narrow scope of Sculpt's administrative UI and tools created decidedly for English-speaking Sculpt power users. But it would fall flat on the face for catering consumers. The API is a means to a specific end, not an asset worth recommending at large.
Hence, the barrier of entry is not entirely unintended. Even though I'm delighted about your interest in the native APIs, I hesitate to put them into the spotlight to avoid raising wrong expectations.
Cheers Norman
