the RNDIS driver should also allow you to use WiFi (or mobile data) through the USB tethering functionality of an Android phone.

There are two USB networking options currently: CDC ethernet with RNDIS and ASIX AX88179/178A Gigabit ethernet dongles. Both can be enabled with the <nic/> config node of usb_drv.
