[Genode] Suggestion about mailing list subject

Hello to all. I was wondering if it can be useful to configure the mailing list to include on the subject (before the text) something like [Genode] or [Genode-Main] . I know that it is easy to set a rule and folder for the mailing list messages on the mail client, but in some other cases I like to identify visually and fast the messages that are from this mailing list in a group of mails. This is just a thought, I don't know how hard or easy will be to configure this on the sourceforge mailing lists. Exceptions in with_libc not working

Hi all, Whenever I throw an exception somewhere in code inside a with_libc lambda expression, and try to catch it outside of that block, it will not catch that exception. Example: |t||ry {| | Libc::with_libc([&] () { ... throw E||xception(); ... } );| |} catch (Exception &e) {|| Genode::log("caught");|||| } |The "caught" will never be printed in this case. AMT SOL on Lenovo X250

Dear subscribers of the Genode mailinglist, After some help by Christian Prochaska I managed to setup AMT SOL on Lenovo X250. I thought I’d share my experience because there are some pitfalls of which I was unaware. On older systems like the Lenovo X201, you had to enable Legacy Redirection Mode for SOL to work. Unfortunately for the X250 this option is no longer available in the AMT <Ctrl-P> boot menu. Instead you can use wsman to set the ‘ListenerEnabled’ flag of the AMT_RedirectionService to true, and SOL will be available. Please note that you cannot run wsman on the machine that you're trying to configure. wsman connects to the amt interface of the target machine and the amt interface is not accessible from the machine itself. So, on another machine, make sure you have installed wsman: $ sudo apt-get install wsmancli Then inspect the ListenerEnabled flag with wsman: $ wsman get http://intel.com/wbem/wscim/1/amt-schema/1/AMT_RedirectionService -h <TARGET_MACHINE_IP_ADDR> -P 16992 -u admin -p ‘<YOUR_AMT_PASSWORD>' If set to false, set it to true using: $ wsman put http://intel.com/wbem/wscim/1/amt-schema/1/AMT_RedirectionService -h <TARGET_MACHINE_IP_ADDR> -P 16992 -u admin -p ‘<YOUR_AMT_PASSWORD>' -k ListenerEnabled=true For debugging you can increase the verbosity with the -d flag, e.g. -d 6. Moving from 16.11 to 17.02 with base-hw kernel

Hi, I'm in the process of moving my TI AM437x (Cortex A9) Genode implementation to 17.02 and trying to get familiar with the lower level structural changes (of which there are many) in base-hw as I progress. After cleaning up some of my deprecated usages, correctly wrapping my components that used libc, and ignoring for now the new unified sd_card driver implementation, I got a successful build which unsurprisingly wanders off into oblivion after completing "kernel initialization". The first question I have is from the build output which includes the line "core link address is 0x91000000" Where is that address generated and what is its purpose? It looks like my load address plus half the available ram. lxip echo not working

Hi, I'm trying to play around with the new lxip vfs plugin. First, I tried running the echo_udp.run test (on linux), but when I run the echo component it exits with the following error message: "Error: no plugin found for socket()" However, since I did create a network interface I am able to ping the network stack. Other than the IP address I did not change anything in the config (or somewhere else). Cannot get NOVA demo to run on qemu

Hi All, I originally posted this on github, then thought it might be better to post here.. I followed the directions in the Genode book, Section 2.4, to build and run the nova demo on x86_64. I'm using Genode 17.02, and qemu 2.7.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. When I run $ make run/demo everything seems to build just fine, and then qemu launches. The GUI for the demo is then displayed, but freezes immediately. The scout window is displayed with the green x-ray shading, but I cannot move or manipulate it at all. The entire GUI just remains frozen, and I am unable to do anything. Reading thread registers

Hello Genode community, in my checkpoint component I intercepted the Cpu session of a child, through which I get all Thread_capabilities created for and by the child. To store the state of a component I need to store the registers of the threads used by the child. I tried reading the registers through the "Thread_state Cpu_thread::state()" method, but it did not contain any information about (just zeros). I'm using Genode 16.05, kernel Fiasco.OC (pbax9 build). By inspecting the kernel API of foc, I found out that the function l4_thread_ex_regs_ret can read the sp and ip register. GSoc-2017: Platforms - Microkernelizing Linux, help needed

Hi, there. I'm a college student majoring Information Security in HUST, and I'm interested in genode's GSoC project on microkernelizaing the Linux kernel. I've been quite interested in microkernel OSs and virtualization, with limited experiences working on xen and the linux kernel. and have been in the MINIX community for a short time, so I was attracted by this challenge at the first sight. Hi Genodians i am new to this frame work and i have explored it as a beginner i have created hello world scenario and also read some the basic stuff from Genode book. my query is that i want to integrate some component in the demo scenario like tutorial browser or menu_view , virtual box etc. can you guys help me and provide me a way so that by proceeding i can do the above mentioned things. thanks in advance
