Genode Source building
by Venkada Ramanujam 23 Aug '13

23 Aug '13

Hi, Complete building and installation for Genode source code is not available. So can i follow below steps. will it work ? 1.Extracting available genode.iso 2.compile only particular code (ex:lwip, nic and netperf for improving tcp/ip performance). 3.replace with existing files (lwip, nic and netperf) with extracted directory (at step 1). 4.again make iso for that directory 5.run with qemu. is it correct or not? or any other procedure for building source and creating iso for genode source. Regarding enabling USB 3.0 in Exynos 5 SoC
by jaeyong yoo 22 Aug '13

22 Aug '13

Hello Genode, I saw that you have successfully enable USB 3.0 in Exynos 5 SoC (Arndale board): http://genode.org/documentation/release-notes/13.05 I'm trying to enable USB 3.0 in native Linux on arndale board and having some trouble. I'm using recent branch of Linux 3.11 kernel with u-boot in Linaro for arndale board. After booting, I can see xhci module is properly installed, but plugging the usb network dongle to USB 3.0 port does not generate any interrupts. Very much appreciate any hints or references for enabling USB 3.0 in native Linux. By any chance, do we have to change some parts in u-boot for power up the USB 3.0? Thanks, Jaeyong

MMIO generation tool
by Martin Stein 20 Aug '13

20 Aug '13

To ease the creation of drivers for Genode I've written a shell script that takes simple Register specs as input and generates appropriate MMIO-framework declarations as output. As an example this input: r M0_grp0_span 28 32 b Span 0 15 t M0_grp0_xy 32 b Y 0 11 b X 16 11 x M0_grp0_sxy M0_grp0_xy 2c x M0_grp0_dxy M0_grp0_xy 34 r M0_grp0_wh 30 32 b Height 0 11 b V_scale 12 2 b Width 16 11 b H_scale 28 2 Would result in this output: struct M0_grp0_span : Register<0x28, 32> { struct Span : Bitfield<0, 15> { }; }; template <unsigned OFF> struct M0_grp0_xy : Register<OFF, 32> { struct Y : Register<OFF, 32>::template Bitfield<0, 11> { }; struct X : Register<OFF, 32>::template Bitfield<16, 11> { }; }; struct M0_grp0_sxy : M0_grp0_xy<0x2c> { }; struct M0_grp0_dxy : M0_grp0_xy<0x34> { }; struct M0_grp0_wh : Register<0x30, 32> { struct Height : Bitfield<0, 11> { }; struct V_scale : Bitfield<12, 2> { }; struct Width : Bitfield<16, 11> { }; struct H_scale : Bitfield<28, 2> { }; }; It fastens my workflow a lot when adding many new registers at a time. The tool can be found as 'tool/mmio' in my branch https://github.com/m-stein/genode/tree/tool_mmio. This branch is not meant to be merged into genodelabs/master and is updated manually. To print the tools manual call the tool without an argument. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask me. Martin

How can i build complete source codes and create iso image for that genode source code and also installation. can any one tell me steps if anymore there. With Reg, VENKADA RAMANUJAM.S 9578520238

hw kernel trace
by Martin Stein 15 Aug '13

15 Aug '13

Although this feature is not meant to be pushed onto genodelabs/master, i've observed that it's often useful for me to have some tools in base-hw that allow for typical tracing anytime the kernel is called. Thus i started a branch https://github.com/m-stein/genode/tree/hw_kernel_trace that provides such tools in form of simple commits, wich one can cherry-pick to its current issue branch just in case. I'll try to keep this branch up-to-date with genodelabs/master manually.

by Venkada Ramanujam 09 Aug '13

09 Aug '13

Hi, This is Venkada Ramanujam. I am doing projects on fixing TCP IP stack related issues on Genode. -Aim is to fix as much as possible problems in TCP IP stack in Genode and, to compare TCP IP stack performance on linux with the Genode. I need details about Genode TCP IP stack and earlier version's problems and how the problems solved. Kindly send me the details. Thank You, With Reg, VENKADA RAMANUJAM.S 9578520238

tool/run: can't cancel 'run_genode_until forever'
by Martin Stein 08 Aug '13

08 Aug '13

I'm not sure if this should be a github issue: When executing a run test that does 'run_genode_until forever' and the test stucks irrecoverable somewhere it's not possible for me to cancel the process via [strg + c] in contrast to the same situation with 'run_genode_until "STRING" TIMEOUT'. I've tested this with terminator 0.96 and xfce4-terminal 0.6.1. It's not a big issue but doing 'ps' and 'kill' all the time is annoying and i'm not so skilled with expect to fix it quickly. Martin
