Avoiding fetchurl restarts

Dear Genodians, I have noticed that at least when running on Linux, the fetchurl component started by depot_download_manager will always restart immediately after it is first executed (before anything has been downloaded). After that the download proceeds as normal. This is because Fetchurl_watchdog uses trigger_periodic to trigger the timer handler which checks the current download progress. As a consequence, this handler /might/ be called immediately, before fetchurl has had the chance to do any work. I believe this is a bug, but one that might not manifest on all platforms due to the uncertain timing introduced by trigger_periodic. I have attached a potential patch, if this sounds okay to you I will open an Issue on GitHub. Request for testing: updated ported Intel display driver

Hello, currently we are testing our updates of ported Linux drivers [0] on various generations of Intel hardware. The available test hardware in the lab works fine, so far, but we can't be sure whether it applies to all systems out there. You may support us, and thereby the next Sculpt release, by test driving the prepared images. The images are bootable via USB stick and can be prepared similar as documented for Sculpt [2]. With the tests by you, we may detect regression earlier, e.g. before the Sculpt release. The test is very simple (and not sensational at all) and cycles through some test pictures. When external monitors are attached, the test pictures are mirrored across all connectors. The resolution changes automatically to the largest resolution available, so that monitors with smaller resolution will just show a part of the test picture (so, it is expected behavior). Image [3] contains the driver based upon Linux kernel 6.1 as be part of Genode staging branch. Image [4] is a variation, which tries to use more of the drm/kms interfaces [2] (and is still work-in-progress). Ideally, both just work. Please also try to attach/detach connectors multiple times to stress the driver a bit. If [3] and [4] does not work (or one of them), it would be nice, to give the 5.14. based driver [5] a spin. With this information we can see, whether it never worked on your system or it is really a regression due to the update to 6.1. If it works for you, it would be good to know about. If it does not work, it would be even better to know about. In both cases, the specification of your hardware would be appreciated. If you don't want to spread the information publicly, you may also write me a direct message. Luxurious support would be, if you can send a captured trace via uart/serial/amt [6] in case something does not work for you. Unable to load the drivers while booting sculpt image - virt_qemu_riscv

Hello Genodians, I am able to generate the sculpt image for virt_qemu_riscv. But while booting the "image.elf", its unable to load some of the drivers. I have attached the LOG and other necessary files for reference. Please help me out and suggest the needful. Regards, Pranab

Running a program on Genode (Riscv)

Hello Genodians, I want to run a C - Program on Genode over virt_qemu_riscv. I think Java support is not there for riscv. So I want to go with C. Kindly guide me on this. Also enlighten about the compilation. Regards Pranab

Unable to load the drivers while booting sculpt image - virt_qemu_riscv

Hi Pranab, This message: Error: <component name>: environment ROM session denied (label="<component name>", ram_quota=6144, cap_quota=3, diag=0) means that your system image is missing the ELF/binary image of the component you're trying to start. This indicates that the archive list in your pkg/drivers_interactive-virt_qemu_riscv/archives file (that adds binaries to your system image) and the <start> nodes in your raw/drivers_interactive-virt_qemu_riscv/drivers.config file mismatch. Either you somehow manage to add the archives of the missing drivers or you remove their instances from the config. java arm_v7a stdin & stdout

Hello genodians, I am exploring the java arm_v7a & I want to use the terminal for stdin & stdout. I am able to get stdin and stdout to terminal by configuring java.run and every output is redirected to terminal instead of log. I am attaching the snap of output. I want to have the java program stdin & stdout happen via terminal and the compilation & running the byte code related information in the log. errors while installing 3rd party software

Greetings everyone, During my attempt to install third-party software, I encountered some errors. It dawned on me that there might be an issue with the software installation process, as I even encountered errors while installing "backdrop" wallpaper and "nano3d". [runtime -> nano3d] Error: LD: symbol not found: 'typeinfo for Genode::Conso' [runtime -> nano3d] Error: Uncaught exception of type 'Linker::Not_found' Could someone please take a look at the error and provide some suggestions? Regarding ARM on Genode

hello genodians, I'm Trying to port Genode OS for i.MX 8MQ boards (arm_v8a). successfully generated .img file but don't know how to run this img file i don't have i.MX board so I have to run on Ubuntu (linux). I have tried qemu emulator but i think qemu doesn't supported board. (basically want to run genode os for ARM.) Please give some guidance on this. Thanks & Regards
