Hi Dogma C stands for clear, once you start dialing a number it appears, in case you mess up the number , you have a chance to clear and reinput your correct number. What is APN ? once you get phone modem working , network “stripe” can be selected and turn on , and in a few seconds get your local ip.

enabling vfs plugins with libc

Hello Genodians I'm working on enabling vfs plugins that use libc, specifically a ported library. The library accesses a hardware device through a file in vfs, so there is no using a minimal libc implementation as it's the libc's vfs access that creates the chicken and egg problem preventing vfs plugins with libc. The best solution I could think of this far is a special vfs server component that uses two vfs, one the hosts the libc using plugins and another that provides the vfs libc needs. First system image of Sculpt OS for the PinePhone

Speaking for myself, I'm overjoyed. :-) BTW, I will present this version on Saturday at FOSDEM in Brussels: https://fosdem.org/2023/schedule/event/genode_on_the_pinephone/ For the immediate testing period at the current stage, I am mostly interested in the operation of the modem and the overall robustness. Hence, I would appreciate your responses with testing mobile-data connectivity and voice calls as well as reporting of glaring bugs or annoyances. Regarding the use as daily driver for me personally, I see two blocking issues, which I will tackle next. - A sleep mode that turns off the screen after a few seconds of no interactivity. I think with this change, one battery charge could get us through the day. - A prolonged standby mode that switches off the application processor and keeps the SCP watching the modem for incoming calls and booting the application processor on such events. This will ultimately allow us stay receptive for incoming calls for several days without recharging. Should you like to experiment with building / experimenting / modifying the system, please share your rough direction so that I can supplement further documentation to support you. First Rockchip port repo.

Hi I have made a github repo for my Rockchip port. It is only RK3588 for now, but I plan to add rk3399 for supporting Pinebook Pro. There are a number of things not working.Most irritating is USB. My old tree had driver in dde_linux repo. Currently if built with drivers-interactive it fails in a couple of library dependencies. If built from a run file it won't build all lx_kit files needed. Feel free to help me, fork and make pull request. There is a crt0.s in the start directory that you can copy to base-hw. I hope it doesn't break things. It is required for this platform, probably because I start genode with "go" and not bootm. I can't get bootm to work. The requirement for running this is a RK3588 board with uboot that support USB and HDMI. You need to run "usb start" before booting. The video driver gets the screen mode from what uboot has configured with EDID. Works just fine with 1080p monitor. But not with a 4k monitor, Well this is it! I have enjoyed it so far. I have tried to being careful with authours by adding myself and kept original developer where appropriate. Please fix if I did something wrong there. It might also be traces from A64 port , which you also can remove if you find any. I also kept the license and base copyright which means that I give this away to The labs. Have fun. Goa: build libraries fails on arm_v8a

Hello Genodians While extending my tests for the feature to build libraries with Goa, I encountered an error when building a library, that works well on x86_64, for arm_v8a. The error is as follows: /usr/local/genode/tool/21.05/bin/../lib/gcc/aarch64-none-elf/10.3.0/../../../../aarch64-none-elf/bin/ld: ../../lib/libc++.lib.so: The first section in the PT_DYNAMIC segment is not the .dynamic section /usr/local/genode/tool/21.05/bin/../lib/gcc/aarch64-none-elf/10.3.0/../../../../aarch64-none-elf/bin/ld: final link failed: bad value I guess, this is due to some remaining bug in my changes. Other libraries built from the same source tree (using cmake) can be built without error. Searching for the problem, I got [1] and [2]. The first blames binutils, the second is more specific by identifying objcompy. AFAIK objcopy is part of binutils. Has somebody an idea what could cause this error in the Goa case? Could it be, that the wrong version of objcopy is used? Virt_qemu_arm_v8a replacement of ROM system with RAM system.

Dear Genodians, I am working with arm_v8a to run it on qemu. I found out that virt_qemu_arm_v8a doesn't support the ROM system and the solution to it is that I can use the RAM system provided in Genode. Testing sculpt image on pinephone

I flashed an sd card on Pinephone Beta edition 3GB. It booted into GUI nicely I also tried flashing it on internal mmc of 32GB but it doesn't bootup. Has anyone managed to boot up from internal memory? I don't see how it should be any different! Thanking you Sagar Acharya https://designman.org

Dear genodians, As I saw that you already worked on the Raspberry for Genode framework,I wanted to ask about that because I am also working on it. I am trying the port genode having the arm_v8a support of Raspberry board to run that on QEMU. So I need some guidance from you on how to start and what should be the roadmap for generating the boot image (.img file ) having arm 64 architecture which can be booted and run on QEMU. It would be very helpful for me if you guide me to port genode on QEMU for arm_v8a. Regards, DHIRAJ.

Restarting siblings vs. restarting nieces

Dear Genodians, I noticed a behavior that I would like to understand. Let's assume we have the following parent-child relationship of a sub-system, omitting some ancestors for simplicity: ``` . └── init ├── fs │ ├── init │ │ └── rump │ ├── fs_mgr │ └── report_rom ├── fs_client1 └── fs_client2 ``` In this example, the config for the first `init` is written via the depot query/deploy mechanism. Thus, `fs`, `fs_client1`, and `fs_client2` are pkg archives. The `runtime` file from pkg archive `fs` contains a management component `fs_mgr` that generates an `init` config which starts a `vfs` server with a `rump` plugin within that `init`. For context, we use the `fs_mgr` to instrument it to start `fsck` or `mkfs` depending on its configuration. But that's not relevant right now. Let's also assume the routing is valid so that `fs_client1` and `fs_client2` are up and running, and they both consume the `File_system` session provided by `rump`. Now to my observation: When I restart `fs` by incrementing its version attribute in the deploy file, `fs`, `fs_client1`, and `fs_client2` all get restarted. That is what I would expect. However, the behavior is different when I instrument the `fs_mgr` to restart `rump`. Most of the time, both `fs_client1` and `fs_client2` don't seem to notice. Is this behavior by design? Is `init` designed to behave differently regarding client/server dependency when siblings get restarted vs. when a niece is restarted? Is there a way to instrument `fs_mgr` to write an `init` config, so that `fs_client1` and `fs_client2` get restarted? Granted, I observed this in a more complex scenario. I once had the following errors when restarting `rump` on `arm_v8a/base-hw`: ``` Kernel: init -> init -> fs_client1 -> ep: cannot send to unknown recipient ... Kernel: Cpu 0 error: re-entered lock. Kernel exception?! ``` Would it make sense for me to create a simplified scenario of it to dig into this behavior further? Kind regards, Sid

Genode on ARM Systems

hello, genodians, I want to generate an image file of genode for ARM Systems. but doesn't have ARM hardware so need to run the image file on qemu so can you suggest what is the best way to do that? or pls suggest all possible ways thanks and regards Divya
