Genode on i.MX6Q Sabre Lite

Hello Is there anything from Genode that I can try on i.MX6Q Sabre Lite development board? So far I've already attempted *log* image that I've obtained from compiling Genode for i.MX6 based Wandboard. The fastboot option that gets executed after *$ make run/log *resulted in nothing, so I've also tried to copy the created images onto SD Card and run them directly on the board. Steps: Once in u-boot prompt => fatload mmc 0 0x30000000 image.elf reading image.elf 1716880 bytes read in 107 ms (15.3 MiB/s) => bootelf 0x30000000 ## Starting application at 0x10001000 ... Then the terminal hangs w/o any output. Same thing happens when executing uImage => fatload mmc 0 0x30000000 uImage reading uImage 594679 bytes read in 48 ms (11.8 MiB/s) => bootm 0x30000000 Terminal hangs once it reaches: Starting kernel ... Any suggestions on what's wrong? Thank you

Release 17.05, base-hw, environment ROM session denied error

Hi, Migrating over to release 17.05 from 17.02, I'm getting errors from an unknown source when a os server starts. Grepping for the error message or portions of it yields nothing and the error tells me nothing I can relate to. The error does not occur on previous releases. The complete run script output is attached but the lines at issue are the dozen or so lines: "[init] Error: ctrl_module: environment ROM session denied (label="ctrl_module", ram_quota=6144, cap_quota=3, diag=0) " What is this message telling me? Also, further down the log is the following output: init -> gpio_drv] resource_request: ram_quota=0, cap_quota=4 [init -> gpio_drv] used before freeing emergency=276K [init -> gpio_drv] used after freeing emergency=260K I believe these are a result of the gpio server setting up a session through the session interface. Is the resource request only for the capabilities storage space?...asking for no ram would not make sense. The second and third lines would appear to indicate that init had to make an emergency allocation of ram but that would not make sense either as it was given control of over 400 MB and the loaded binaries have consumed a small fraction of that. Mosquitto library ported to Genode

Hello, we successfully ported the mosquitto *library* to Genode (we used version 15.05 and 16.08 for testing), which may be interesting for some on the mailing list - it is a library, implementing the MQTT protocol. https://github.com/argos-research/genode/pull/12 Every option is enabled apart from 'WITH_SRV' which would enable SRV lookup support. We didn't test the SSL support, but it is linked and compiled into the library. Additionally a simple publisher application is implemented (mpct), which publishes to a given server a hello world message with an increasing iterator and makes use of the callback functionality. One point which took a huge amount of time to find, was that 'lwip_tcpip_init()' function leads to freezes for us (https://github.com/argos-research/genode/pull/12/files#diff-48dce339109d626…). On real hardware (pandaboard / raspberry pi) it freezes before even receiving an ip address and on the pbxa9 qemu instance it froze after publishing a few messages, leading to the error message 'Assertion "tcp_write: pbufs on queue => at least one queue non-empty"'. To work around this, by simply removing it, everything seems to work and we are not exactly sure why, maybe someone can explain it to us? Regards, Alexander

How to compile genode os code along with .so file from some other library

Hello I want to do some modifications to genode code using a C library, I want to compile Genode code along with a .so file from some third party library and the corresponding .h file. I am using functions from that library in vm_base.h in os sub-directory. Is there some simple way to directly change the Makefile to include .so file or something similar? Thanks Abhishek

Attempting to create a custom noux_bash.run

I've studied as many network run scripts as I could in order to make a custom noux_bash.run with wifi and lynx. I'm also adding tools to compile and debug C code. But, I think it's in really bad shape :/ If anyone out there can help proofread my run script and provide assistance and suggestions, it would be very much appreciated :)))) https://github.com/baconicsynergy/run-scripts Also... I know absolutely nothing about the Nix/Git package manager that was recently added. Could someone help me get started?

Accessing virtual address of normal world in secure world in genode-tz

Hello I am trying to convert virtual address (corresponding to normal world) stored in instruction pointer into virtual address in tz_vmm, in order to read the instruction which caused the exception in normal world linux and process accordingly. Though we do have physical address (using va_to_pa function), but it is not helping in any way to read the instruction stored at that physical address. Is there any way other than switching MMU off. Bender cannot relocate

When I try to run arora on Genode (tried with both nova and hw) in Qemu, even with plenty of ram (-ram 4096), I run into the following error: spawn qemu-system-x86_64 -machine type=pc,accel=kvm -display sdl -cpu core2duo -vga cirrus -net nic,model=e1000 -net user -serial mon:stdio -cdrom var/run/arora.iso warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:EDX.ss [bit 27] Bender: Hello World. Modules might overlap. Relocate to f40000, but module at 00226000-072a0b17. Cannot relocate. phdr 200000+1e70 overlaps with module 201000-225078 200d+25'/hypervisor iommu serial novpid novga' Exit with status 1. Rebooting... I haven't tested x86_32, given how long it takes to compile Qt, so I don't know whether the issue is just for x86_64 or for all x86. Any ideas on what's going wrong and how to fix it?

Unable to use csu_config.h to secure GPIO access from normal world

Hello I am using genode trustzone code on imx53 board. AFAIU, following lines in csu_config.h are supposed to regulate the access from normal world: ``` namespace Csu_config { enum { SECURE_GPIO = 1, SECURE_ESDHC = 0, SECURE_UART = 0, SECURE_I2C = 1, }; }; ``` Though GPIO is set secure, I am still able to set direction and value of gpios from the linux running in normal world, on top of tz_vmm running in secure world. Should it not raise some exception? Where am I going wrong? Thanks Abhishek
