Genode/NOVA+Multiple VMMs Seoul / VBox

Dear Genode Community, In the Genode site there is a sreenshot showing VBox and Seoul VMMs on top of Genode / Nova. Seoul executes TinyCore and VBox Win7 as Guest-OSes. However, I could not find the corresponding run script. I am trying to recreate a similar environment. Actually I would like to evaluate a similar scenario where I could deploy and run multiple VMs running TC as Guest-Os. I would like also to be able to control and see the VMs (enter the Guest-OS, start/stop the VM) from the Genode window as the screenshot shows. ------ Having said that, I´ve struggling to understand how to create a run script capable to build such Software System capable to boot from a USB. I´ve ran successfully some scripts with QEMU: seoul-fancy.run, seoul-genode. VirtualBox facing many problems, either on QEMU or USB stick. So at first I would like to stick with Seoul. In this case, being able to run multiple VMs (Seoul+TinyCore) from Genode/Nova. Which way shall I follow to create a run script that fullfils what I expect? Is there already any run script? run/noux_vim yields black SDL window on linux_x86

Reset iMX53-QSB from the secure world

Hey, I'm attempting to make a simple reboot feature on Freescale's iMX53-QSB. I'm currently working using the tz_vmm example. So, I understand that the way to achieve that on this board is through the watchdog timer, I followed the Linux kernel code that does this, and implemented a kernel module that does only the reboot part, this what i came up with: - volatile unsigned short *wdog1_base = (volatile unsigned short*) 0xf7e98000; *wdog1_base = (1 << 2); - This exact code, i a kernel module, does an immediate reset and i get the u-boot shell. All of this is done on the normal world of course, now i wish to have this in the secure world, Running the exact same code in the secure world, in the handle hypercall routine i get: - no RM attachment (faulter 129090 with IP 70014c28 attempts to write to address f7e98000) void Genode::Pager_object::unresolved_page_fault_occurred(): not implemented unknown signal context - Any idea's how to achieve my reset from the secure world ? Also, if someone could shed some light about the error, I'm not that familiar with Genode, just starting to work with it. Thanks in advanced.

Reg : Problem calling user defined function from a thread

Hello, I have a created simple shared library xyz.so. In that library I am starting thread (t) and from that thread (t) I am trying to call a user defined function (fun), but after calling fun from t , the process stops executing. Can anyone please tell me how to resolve. -- Thanks, A.Kiran Kumar

Problem running demo on RaspberryPi

Hello After switching to 15.08 I can no longer run the demo on my RaspberryPi. For some reason the run script wants to include gpio_drv but doesn't build it. In repos/os/run/demo.run on line 21 the SPEC gpio dosn't seem to be set, as I do not see the building of the gpio driver. In repos/os/run/demo.run on line 70 the SPEC gpio is set, as the config contains the configuration for the gpio_drv. Best regards Pirmin Duss

Testing the SD_card driver in Odroid-X2

Hi Genode Community, I'm working on the implementation of SD card driver in ODROID-X2 (exynos4412) platform. I decided to reuse the implementation of SDHCI controller implemented by Norman Feske and Christian Helmuth. Essentially I only updated the memory map. I ran the sd_card and sd_card_bench tests, which ran successfully after making some arrangements in the corresponding .run files. I'm interested in trying this driver using the FAT32 file system, but running the libc_ffat example, an error occurs. Apparently the test attempts to create a directory and then open it, but fails when trying to open it. nic_bridge with tap devices under linux_x86

Hi Genodians, I would like to test some networking-stuff under linux_x86 and have got a question concerning the use of the nic_bridge with the linux nic_drv. My setup is the following: For testing, I have created two tap devices which are used by two Genode 15.02 instances running on the same linux host. One instance is hosting a server application, the other the respective client, both using the lwip socket API. As long, as I only use the server and the client, everything is fine. In the next step I added additional components to the configuration which are also supposed to access the network. Thus I added the nic_bridge with a configured mac-address as a resource multiplexer and set the routes accordingly. The components in question successfully get an ip via dhcp. However, I do not receive any packets at the other end of the (virtual) line. - Infact it seems as if they do not even reach the nic_drv. When the bridge & nic_drv are initializing, I see the following lines on the server side (client'ts the same, except, of course, for the ip- and mac-address): [init -> nic_drv] --- Linux/tap NIC driver started --- [init -> nic_drv] Success [init -> nic_drv] Using tap device "tap1" [init -> nic_bridge] Invalid session request, no matching policy [init -> nic_bridge] --- NIC bridge started (mac=02:00:00:00:00:01) --- [init ->server] got IP address 192.168.56.106 As far as I read it from the mailing list / git commits, the "Invalid session request" message is not critical, correct? In a further simplified setup, I am using a single tap device with the nic driver, which is working flawlessly. As soon as I add the bridge I notice the same behavior as described above. In wireshark I saw a series of 3 ARP requests finished with a gratuitous ARP,if the bridge is not used. - The last one is missing if the bridge is used. If I read the code correctly those packets are purposely dropped in the nic_bridge. Am I missing / misconfiguring something here? Genode 15.08 NOVA Demo Blank Screen

Hi, I am trying to run the demo and a QEMU appeared with a blank screen although before thr blank screen appeared it did display messages that looks like from the NOVA hypervisor loading. The log can be found on this pastebin: http://pastebin.com/8P3UF7Zt The image screenshot can be seen from: http://i.imgur.com/lp8uVvO.jpg Is it normal for the demo to appear as a blank screen. I remembered when I built he NOVA for 15.05 it showed a nitpicker GUI demo screen though. Regards, Thoth.

Hello , I am new to Genode, and wonderning is there any POSIX compliant C library which runs on top of genode itself not on noux runtime environment, if not available then how I can proceed to port any existing posix library to genode as I have to take care of linux system calls and signal handling mechanism provided by underlying kernel. -- కిరణ్ కుమార్ , భారత దేశం .
