Nix and Noux

Hello, I'd like some advice on the Nix port. Much of the user inteface side of Nix is Perl scripts, is Perl known not to work with Noux at the moment, or has it just not been ported? If Perl not available, I could just remove the Perl stuff the noux-pkg build process. The Perl stuff is just frontends, and we really don't need them to create packages, maybe if we were managing a persistant Noux setup, but that would be best done with stacked archives managed outside Noux. I would think the other possibility is to come up with a native Nix that creates its own Noux environment for build processes. Basically the requirements of Nix are traversing a readonly filesystem to evaulate expressions, a temporary enviroment and filesystem for building outputs, and a filesystem for storing outputs. There is also a database for storing dependency information but I think that can be overlooked for now. A hopefully easier question is assuming I get something working in Noux right now, what is the best way to write out files generated during a Genode run? Emery

failure running seoul-genode run script

When trying to run seoul-genode I get errors that seem to loop forever. The normal "printf" run script runs fine, just not from within seoul. Some output is shown below with a full log at http://pastebin.com/sPsWJ7X5 . I also tried running seoul-kernelbuild and saw similar failures, but without the looping behavior. The failures seem to happen in seoul itself. Serial Output on RaspberryPI

Hi Genode community I'm testing GenodeOS on the RaspberryPI. I have compiled and tested some examples using a modified QEMU emulator and real hardware. I'm trying to catch the serial output on real hardware. To catch the serial output, i'm using an Arduino bridge to read the serial output from RaspberryPI and send it to my computer. I have built a level shifter to transform the RaspberryPI 3.3v in 5v. I'm using the UART TX pin (GPIO 8) to get the serial output. When i have tested the examples, can't get the serial output on TX pin. Who can i get the serial output from RaspberryPI? Best regards -- Lic. failure with run/noux_net_openssh_interactive

Hi, I wanted to try out the ipxe networking (I'm not entirely sure if my NIC is even supported) and I ran the run/noux_net_openssh_interactive configuration on my device and got an error. run/wifi on intel 5100

The wifi driver seems to work just fine on intel 5100 cards with the tweak suggested in the latest release notes. I just had to add an entry to drv.c for the card, and then make some tweaks to the wifi.run script. I also added the firmware for my card (not sure if it used it). Note: I couldnt find the required "bin/iwlwifi-6000-6.ucode" file and just copied "bin/iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode" instead. AHCI (cont)

Gmail is strugging with sending one or more of my emails, so I've created a new email thread. Basically, AHCI isn't working with part_blk for me. I am running genode (foc_x86_32) on real hardware. With rom_blk, part_blk works fine. With ahci, it freezes. I have found the line of code in part_blk relevant to the freezing to be the following part of partition_table.h: _session(Driver::driver().session()) Any help?

Netperf - faild error

Hi, I am trying change the netperf_lwip. run file to make it suitable in my test . I would like to run netperf only on RPI and make it send request to the local machine . to get that : - i update the netperf.c in contrib/netperfXX/sre/app/netperf/src - i great new .mk to get netperf in prots/src/app - and then I changed the run file when i test it , it compile correctly and when it start i got the next messages [init -> netperf_genode] DUMMY getpid(): getpid called , not implemented [init -> netperf_genode] plugin() -> open("") failed. which plugin it means? best.

graphics in lenovo

I booted a few images on two thinkpad devices. On my T410s with an NVidia graphics card ("VGA compatible controller" "NVIDIA Corporation" "GT218M [NVS 3100M]" -ra2 "Lenovo" "Device 21cd") everything worked well. On the T500 with an intel graphics card I had problems. ("VGA compatible controller" "Intel Corporation" "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" -r07 "Lenovo" "Device 20e4"). In text mode everything was fine but when it switched to graphics mode, the screen had tearing. This can be seen in http://imgur.com/c9KPv2H . The serial (AMT) output seems to indicate it tried to get the right video mode from VESA: [init -> fb_drv] Using video mode: 1680 x 1050 x 16 The full serial output can be seen at http://pastebin.com/guH2QAB5 Any idea why it wasnt able to set up the video properly here? experiences with virtualbox?

I am about to jump in to try to run virtualbox in genode on intel hardware (lenovo). I was wondering if anyone's documented their experiences setting this up yet?
