well, the output of 'fdisk' looks good. I've tested exactly the same
image, after following the described steps with:

Pandaboard Rev. A2

as well as:

Pandaboard ES Rev. B

Both boards worked out of the box. I'm sorry, but I don't have further
ideas what the problem might be.
