LTE Chips and Genode

Dear Genodians,

does anyone of you have experience in dealing with LTE chips?
From my perspective it's unclear which path to take. Should I use a chip that connects via PCIe and port a linux driver?
Or should I use one that I can connect serially using AT commands? Is there a component that abstracts the modem use-case for data transfer?
Or is USB the way to go?

Yours truly,
Sid
