nic_drv crashes with resource request

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue with master (f6386c6ce1)
and "make run/lwip KERNEL=nova". Could you please provide a bit more
context about the used test case and hardware configuration? Does any
other component complain about insufficient RAM?
