By the way, I'm not using USB for the connection, and both sides will let me access ttyS0.

connection is working using the commands Christian Prochaska
recommended. In case you're using USB-to-serial, please make sure you
connect the serial connector to the COM port of the destined test
machine. Also you should make sure that the BIOS settings of the test
machine activate the UART/COM.
